Does anybody else know how these things work, how they will fit onto your car, anybody have instillation instruction.
They sound great if they actually work

I've got them! I haven't installed them yet, but they shouldn't be too hard -- minimal amount of work.
Take a look on scoobymods.com (http://www.scoobymods.com). They have a write-up there on how to install it!

The 2002 WRX has these from the factory. Wether they do much is questionable, but those tiny intakes under the fog lights are ducted between the fender liner and a cover to empty in the wheel well next to the rotors. There's no flex tube and bezel around the rotor but the seem to be exactly what that picture showed.

The WRX brake cooling ducts seem to be blowing onto the dust shield behind the front rotors. I remove the shields before any track events.

They are for GC8s, from the previous generation WRX.
It can't hurt, and for the price it's no biggie.
For anyone doing the install, I removed the lip duct from the stock guard and installed THAT on the new pieces...less nubs to melt that removing the brake duct from the WRX piece and install it on the stock bit.
Another tip, after you light the nub on fire, don't use a rag or glove to smush it, I used the tip of a 3/8" socket extension...the cold metal releases easily, and the flat top of the extension gives you a good masher.

ok if these aren't for the 2002 WRX where can I find some at a reasoable price? I just can't fatham paying $600 bills for mudflaps
secondly I keep seeing "bump" in posts. what does this mean? I don't think the dictionary definition applies here does it?:p
thirdly I saw a post with a HUGE list of WRX parts and part #'s but I can't find it now. it said something about it being on JOHN's (not exactly sure if thats right) website.
any help is greatly appreciated.
I think they are cool but I don't think they do all that much. Anyone have anything good to say about them?
