View Full Version : Pics of Wet Okole Seat Covers
lexwrx 09-21-2001, 10:13 AM OK ... I've been promising to post pics for the past week and finally got my neighbor to bring home her digital camera. You can browse their color selection at www.wetokole.com.
The covers were ~$250 plain and ~$34 for the "WRX" graphic (which is what took them so long). They're made of neoprene wet suit material, so your butt sticks better than on the cloth. There's a hole cut out in the sides where the airbags deploy (which you can't see in the picture).
They haven't designed covers for the sedan's back seat yet ... but I think they've got 'em for the wagon, you'll have to call 'em up and ask though (???). If they get dirty they've got a special shampoo you can use to clean 'em without taking them off the seats (the covers are waterproof) ... it takes about a half hour per seat to really get 'em on right. They're a three piece unit per seat ... the back and headrest velcro on and the bottom piece has three cinch straps with pressure clips (btw, this was the biggest pain in the a$$ to fit).
Edit: Got rid of the big pic ... see below for re-post
All the trouble was well worth it since I'm no longer stressed about my a$$ rubbing a bare spot on the left seat bolster from getting in and out of the car :) And I think they look pretty good, too ... could almost be OEM ???
SubEd 09-21-2001, 10:15 AM Looks very nice! Pity our dial-up friends with that large pic, though.
lexwrx 09-21-2001, 10:17 AM Here's some e-mail size pics:
lexwrx 09-21-2001, 10:24 AM And another:
RiftsWRX 09-21-2001, 10:26 AM based on long term use I'd like to know if it's true that they start to fade...
As for my ass rubbing through my seat :) that's why I bought the extended warranty :)
But I must admit, they do look nice :)

lexwrx 09-21-2001, 10:29 AM Jorge, they're supposed to have some sunscreen product for the fading, but I think that would be for those folks with convertibles and targa tops in very sunny climes that leave their $hit open all the time and expose 'em to the elements.
I dunno if you can see 'em too well with this smaller pic, but here's what they look like from the front thru the windshield (not cracked yet ... knock on wood):
lexwrx 09-21-2001, 10:39 AM OK .. I promise, this is the last one:
trhoppe 09-21-2001, 11:04 AM Very nice looking. Thanks for all the effort in getting these made for us.
lexwrx 09-21-2001, 11:38 AM No prob! ... It was a labor of love ;)
I lied ... here's another pic (you should be able to see the cutout for the side airbags):
Very nice looking covers! I am a fan of anything that helps me stick to the seat better! :)
I also really like the grey with the black interior. It's a good combo.
RiftsWRX 09-21-2001, 12:39 PM While I like the covers... I like the possibility of having all the seats done in two tone leather for a little more then the cost of these seat covers...

What do I do!!!

Stanley 09-21-2001, 12:44 PM For all those people who have given me a hard time for getting leather put in my car - I DESERVE IT! I should have got some of these:D
Look very nice and functional for activities I love to do!
lexwrx 09-21-2001, 12:59 PM Jorge - It's six of one and a half-dozen of the other ... If you like leather (and those covers look really nice), then get them but your butt may be sliding all over the place when you take hard corners. Like I said in my first post, the neoprene keeps you in place better than the OEM cloth ... just my opinion, though :)
Either way, have fun with your choice :)
Not bad. Nice.
I guess if you ever go to the beach, you can take the seat covers off and put it on yourself to go surfing. :)
RiftsWRX 09-21-2001, 01:46 PM Oh yeah... don't get me wrong!!! I showed interest in these a while ago..
But I also like the refined look :) hehehe
But I'm most likely doing leather, since I just read wife's email and she's blessed it :D WOOOT!

lexwrx 09-21-2001, 05:02 PM Jorge - Take some pics when you get it done ... can't wait to see 'em on your wagon and hear how you like 'em. :)
Stanley - Now I'm having "buyer's remorse" b/c the leather looks so sweet ...
Edit: Just read the installation instructions for the leather seat covers at www.leatherseats.com am I'm now convinced that I made the absolute, 100% correct decision (for me).
There's no way in heII I have the time, patience or skill for that install ... good luck to all on the group buy (note: the four hour estimate for install on their website will turn into 6-8 hours for anyone who's never done it before). Hope all the installs look like they do in the pictures (and I'm not being a smarta$$, just don't want anyone to be too bummed if it doesn't work out like they plan). :)
WRXWES 09-21-2001, 06:33 PM The katzkin covers are made to fit perfectly so they will all look awesome. And i'm looking forward to the install, call me crazy but I like doing that kind of thing. And just think of how proud we will be when were done :)
Wes
Yellow T-REX 09-21-2001, 07:22 PM The leather will take some time to install, but they are not a seat cover. It is a new leather interior, the OEM will be removed and stored with all of the other OEM items taken off the car. It really isn't that hard to do, just time consuming but hey it's a hobby right?
Love the thought of neoprene (3 mil. I assume). It is a great material, strong and very sticky and the seats look great. I just like the finish of a "replacement" and think with the suede inserts and the high sides on the seats slipping won't be a problem (BIG BUTT SYNDROM) I wedge right in. Don't pay any attention to me though, I'm spending money I don't have because George wants me to help the economy and I'm a good American.
Skyline 09-25-2001, 10:31 PM Wow, those look really good! Thanks for being the guinea pig for the rest of us. It's greatly appreciated! :-)
I'm hoping my dealer finally comes through and I can pick up my car this weekend. If so, I'll be ordering those covers Monday!
Thanks.

Skyline 10-01-2001, 03:28 PM Well, I got my new red WRX sedan :D :D on Saturday, and I just placed my order for seat covers in "Wine" with the WRX logo in white. I can't wait!
They're supposed to arrive in 2-3 weeks. I'll post pictures when I've got them on.
Woo hoo!
/mel :D
lexwrx 10-01-2001, 04:14 PM Wine trim with white "WRX" on a SRP sedan ... SWEET! Can't wait to see the pics.
BTW, took a weekend trip with some buddies and the covers definately were a help since those fata$$ lard butts couldn't keep anything they were eating or drinking (or smokin' ... j/k) in their mouths. Ground-in crumbs and drips wiped right off with a good vaccuming and a wet rag ... :)
Mark Avery 10-01-2001, 08:58 PM My wagon was the first WRX Wet Okole had seen back in early May, and the pattern was made from my car. I got gray/black to match the silver paint. It looks much classier than the OEM seats, though I wish I'd have bought new tires first.
-Mark
lexwrx 10-02-2001, 11:05 AM Mark - Thanks for being the guinea pig for the the front seat patterns! You obviously didn't get the "WRX" graphics - took those knuckle-heads 2 1/2 weeks to figure it out! Although, the wait was worth it ... I think.
Did you do rear seats, too? The customer service rep I talked to was pretty clueless, but the design engineer I ended up getting transfered to said something about doing a rear for a wagon. I figured there was no way I'd get a rear for my sedan ... I guess if there's another "sucka" :) living in SoCal willing to sacrifice for the rest of us and can post pics, I'd do the rear, too!!!!
Skyline 11-10-2001, 06:51 PM Ok, I finally took some pictures of the Wine seat covers. I love 'em! Here ya go:

zabutter 11-10-2001, 10:49 PM another option is spray the hell out seats and carpets with Scothgard. I surf and repels water to the max. Stains clean up nicely too.
driggity 01-04-2002, 04:04 PM Skyline: It looks like the seat covers are kind of pink compared to the paint? How good a match is it really? Do you think the red would be better? I'm just wondering because I'm thinking of getting a SRP WRX and like the look of yours a lot.
Rebellion 01-04-2002, 04:38 PM uhhhhh .... i ... must ... have ... red ... centers .......... ~drools on Skyline's seats~
tho... I'm waiting for something in the pseudo-suede... dunno if I'd like the neoprene.

They are definitely not pink. It's just an artifact of the camera flash that they look a bit lighter than they actually are. The color is a deeper red than it appears, but at the same time, the red is quite vibrant. They really do look kick-ass. A female friend complimented me on the seats. :D
The "wine" is definitely deeper and a better match for SRP than the "red". The "red" is a very bright red...
Why don't you go to their web site and request little color samples? They'll mail you a tiny square of your choice of three colors of neoprene. I have to emphasize that I think "wine" is the best choice. No regrets at all! :D
Btw, I've heard from AndrewWRX and he is considering stopping by Wet Okole in CA in person with his WRX sedan to get the rear seats measured! I can't wait! I want my rear seat covers. :D
Good luck guys!

driggity 01-05-2002, 08:33 PM Thanks for the info. I didn't notice that you could get samples when I was looking around on their site.
And if you got a female friend to say that it looks right then I totally believe. According to girls I know there are shades of red other than light red, dark red, and bright red. That was sure news to me :D
Skyline 01-05-2002, 10:53 PM LOL! I experienced one of those conversations once. That was the day I discovered "fucia". :o
/mel :D
lexwrx 01-25-2002, 04:24 PM Skyline ... the seats look great (wish I could see it in person). I've almost got my wife sold on a SRP WRX wagon ... might have to do the same ... also, if you get the rear seat covers, please post some pictures and/or PM me. Thanks!
FWIW, I think red and yellow WRXs will benefit the most from these applications since the black/blue OEM seats naturally clash the worst with these two (according to my wife :) )
Skyline 01-25-2002, 05:53 PM lexwrx,
Thanks! I would love to get the rear seat covers...but I don't know if they have the patterns for them yet. :(
AndrewWRX? Any progress? :)

AndrewWRX 01-25-2002, 09:14 PM I just bought wheels & tires. So I am saving up for the seat covers. I will first do the front seats and then the back. But I will let them measure up the back seat when I get the front and see if they will give a discount, but it does not sound like it.
