Now i've been doing lotsa searches on here so please don't flame me but i can't for the life of me find a reasonable conclusion, most people say it's just fine but others say EGT's and boost will both increase (no good). So can any of you fellas enlighten me with an answer to this question? Thanks guys :disco: .

Well, I added a ver. 7 to my car with an ECUTek stage 2 reflash and it lowered my EGTs...

It probably won't do anything to the car unless you tune for it.

as for egts and boost.. that's something you're gonna have to monitor

also.. in vegas i assume you're gonna be dealing with some heatsoak issues

Yup, i already have a CUSCO heat shield over the VF-30, I just hope the STI TMIC will agree with the COBB Acessport, think they'll get along fine?

A buddy of mine has the usually goodies for a turbo upgrade, running a vf30, with a jdm sti tmic, its about 15% larger than the usdm sti tmic. His car is really fast. He's using AP and is just running the off the shelf map. Although only thing diffferent is he is running a manual boost controller at 20psi which is probably why it feels fast. Afr's are good too....the cobb maps are pretty rich.

Bigger intercoolers = reduced detonation. Also, even if the IC has less of a pressure drop, the ecm will account for that and bleed off more via the wastegate. with less of a pressure drop, the turbo will just have less strain on it because it wont have to push as much boost as it did before. You will be fine. There should be no "drastic" change. PERIOD. Some people will say "YOU NEED TO HAVE IT PRO TUNED". Thats just not the case.

i ran my cobb 2.5 setup with an ebay tmic for quite some time and everything was fine - a/f ratios and egts were well within safe values.

Posting in the right forum helps as does reading the sticky at the top of that forum. PLEASE....spend more than 2 seconds to decide where you are going to post and be sure to read the stickies. People like you give us Moderators ulcers. :(

I've been running a version 7 STI intercooler with the Cobb 2.5 for 2 yrs. I carry 18.2 PSI as read on the Access Port which makes me believe that it is less restrictive. I ran this intercooler while I was at Stage 2 for about 6 months and have been very happy with it.
