How much boost do you stage 2 guys see in first and second gear on STI's? It seems like I only get about 15psi or so in first and second. Sometimes I can feel like a surge and get 20psi briefly in second if i punch it going like 30mph in second gear. I see much higher boost in 3rd-4th gears. I know that first and second gears normally see less boost on turbo cars but it just seems like mine is so much lower. When I row through the gears fast even 3rd gear only gets about 15psi. If i punch it from a slow roll in first gear it seems like I get about 12 psi in first and second and then about 15 in third. If I punch it at 60 in 4th gear I spike to about 21. I wanted to check and see what everyone else gets.

im no specialist but it seems liek your protune wasnt very good. the tuner should have fixed any boost spiking issues

The tune is great. It's smooth and consistant. And very conservative. I was more concerned with the low boost in first and second. But I watched it closer this morning and it's hitting 16psi in first and second which is pretty good I guess since the higher gears hit around 19 normally. So I guess I'll be ok.

looking at a guage isn't a great way to measure boost. logging it and the going over the logs seems to be the general way of measuring what your boost really was.

since you dont really have that with the acess port, i guess boost guage has to do. I remember some posts of people saying the guage has been +/- 2psi, so maybe 15psi is really 17, or maybe its really 13. no way to tell without logging it.

In my StreetTuner logs... 18+ in 1st, 17-18 in 2nd, and 18+ in all the other gears. But I spent all of last summer tuning the car on the street/dragstrip. Your numbers seem normal for a car that had a dyno tune or an OTS map.

I'm getting a Perrin EBCS installed with my FP Green setup this weekend. Hopefully it will make some more boost in the lower gears. I don't pull like I should and cars that are much slower can hang with me in 1-2. I don't really start pulling hard until 3rd.

wait... you say it is a "conservative tune" and your doing 21 psi on a stock turbo and cREEPING. sounds like anything BUT safe to me. my 3" FP green goes to 21 psi.. my stocker was never above 17

It doesn't creep. It's a brief spike and then settles to 19 or so but that's only in 5th and 6th gears. My A/F is 10.1-10.6

I'll never get a UTEC. Most of the people I've read had those sold them for reflashes. I hear alot about the delay they have too. I'll never go piggyback.
