Yes (and no). Someone was on the verge of figuring it out all the electronic and mechanics etc. about a year ago, documenting the whole process in this forum, but then gave up/sold their 4eat/started a new project, or something like that. I don't quite recall why it was never finished. You'll have to search. I do recall a lot of people were watching the thread with much anticipation and were very disapointed when it didn't come the anything.

If you wanted to pick up were they left off . . .

I believe IPT has perfected this...if I am not mistaken.

"IPT is now offering a stand alone full manual controller for Subaru transmissions.

The IPT Electro-Matic offers you the ability to shift your automatic like a stick!

With this module, which is mounted in the vehicle cockpit, each gear is selected via a push button and lock- up clutch operation is controlled via a toggle switch- the end user has complete control of all transmission upshifts and downshifts

This controller is ideal for road racing, drag racing and street/strip usage. The IPT Elecrto-Matic is also particularly well suited for applications where a stand alone engine management system with no provision for controlling an automatic transmission is utilized. This is the NEW switchable version which enables the user to easily toggle between stock TCU control and Full Manual operation"

shekelaar,

Do a search for a guy named Sandsuby. He did something similar on his 4EAT for some kind of sand vehicle...not really sure what it was.

Also, do a search for anything having to do with Rally Knight. They had a short-lived rally team that used 2.5 RSs with 4EATs. They were powerful, and they had paddle shifters. The owner was going to sell these setups, but to my knowledge nobody ever actually got one.
