The most overlooked performance addition for your Impreza is the oil cooler.
Subaru installs a heat exchanger between coolant and oil. This stabilizes the temps. but it doesn't lower it. Not good. You need to remove heat from the system. In high load situations, the oil takes a beating. Even synthetics....

Solution:
A proven, high quality oil cooler that lowers oil temps.

Fits 2002-2006 Impreza, WRX and STI!!

Our Subaru WRX/STi engine cooler is a must for those with highly modified engines or those that put their car on any type of race circuit. Engine oil loses its viscosity rapidly with temperatures above 110 deg C (240 deg F). This complete engine oil cooler system will keep the oil temperatures down along with reducing the load on the factory engine water cooling system. This gives greater reliability in extreme applications and longer engine life for everyday driving.

Features of the system

Bar and plate core construction

http://processwest.com.au/img_products/pw_p_ocs_4_th.jpg

Bar and plate core construction is by far the most efficient type of heat exchanger core. It is also the most labour intensive and expensive to produce…but you pay for what you get. Compact, efficient and extremely strong without the industrial look of units our competitors offer.

Billet core end tanks

http://processwest.com.au/img_products/pw_p_ocs_5_th.jpg

Precision machined from solid billets of 6061-T6 aluminium these end tanks are one piece to ensure no leaks.

Fittings in the system are produced by Goodridge..the world leaders in motorsport plumbing. We have opted for the reliability of using O-ring sealed threads instead of the more traditional BSP/NPT tapered thread.

The kit uses AN – 8 fittings and hoses throughout.

Oil filter adaptor block

http://processwest.com.au/img_products/pw_p_ocs_8_th.jpg

The tight confines around the oil filter area of the Subaru EJ series engine meant that a complete custom built “sandwich” adaptor block had to be designed to suit the application.

http://processwest.com.au/img_products/pw_p_ocs_9_th.jpg

This part is precision CNC machined from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminium. A lot of time was spent ensuring the internal passage ways were as large as possible to ensure zero oil pressure drop through the unit.

Oil delivery hose and clamping

Oil delivery hoses are Gates Push Loc internally braided high tensile synthetic textile which is flame resistant and rated to 300psi.

Hoses are kept in place by this very neat twin clamp block system.

wait does it fit with a turboxs front mount?

Should fit all except APS without modification. Bumper beam on APS gets in the way.

Please keep in mind that fitment could be modified to fit APS's bumper beam, but it is not in the instruction sheet.

Fitment takes about an hour, all hardware included.

This is a nice setup.

i picked up one of these and i was wondering is it safe to spray paint it black with the high heat resistent paint from kragen?

It shouldn't be an issue, although it looks pretty sweet polished.

Thanks for asking!

This happend to me and wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. The 2 oil lines that comes with that heat shield. PLEASE use more protection then just this. Because that heatshield at least on my car burnt through and melted my 2 oil lines and lets just say people that were behind me on the freeway werent to happy with oil being squirted all over there car. Dont get me wrong this oil cooler is well made and I personally like it. But on the Safe side please if ur lines are really close or touching ur headers USE more protection then wat it comes with cause mine burnt through, perferably a small piece of header wrap.

If the oil cooler is installed per the included instruction sheet, there is a nice steel plate bracket and bolted plastic clamp that positions the hoses in a safe path under the front of the car.

In no situation should the lines be close enough to the manifold to cause this situation. If there are installation questions, please contact your selling dealer or us and we will be happy to assist to make sure this is the nicest oil cooler for your car.

We've installed a good number of these and we're in Florida. No problems at all, quality is very nice and well thought out.

Not to change the subject, but are those headlight washers on the '06 STI? Was that an option?

Im sorry to hear about your problem please contact me to discuss.

Your kit may have been one of the very early kits. Since then the hose length has been changed and the heat shiedling upgraded to orange "fire sleeve".(see below pic).

Some aftermarket headers hang lower than the factory exhaust manifold so more hose length and better heat sheilding was added to the kit.

The pic below shows the hose routing and new “fire sleeve”. The fire sleeve is resistant to molten metal. (and costs a fortune) The pic is a bit deceiving but there is 40mm (1 3/4in) of clearance between the oil cooler lines and the exhaust manifold.

The installation instructions say to make sure that you give the hoses enough "droop" to keep it away from the exhaust manifold. The amount of droop is governed by the hose position when you do up the clamp block.

All you need to do is remove the Greddy adaptor..the sandwich block that comes with the oil cooler kit has ports for oil temp and oil pressure
