View Full Version : WTB: Quiet(ish) Exhaust for 03 Rex
brickhoss 02-16-2006, 01:06 AM Hey guys... I'm looking for a semi-quiet exhaust locally (Baltimore area and beyond) that I can purchase for my 03. Currently I have full Invidia N1 Turboback. I would trade if someone was interested, but I'm more concerned w/ getting something else first. What do you guys have?
I prefer dual-tip, or small single tip... No canisters as that is what I have now.
-Borla Hush
-Perrin Dual-tip
-Stromung
-Prodrive... ETC!!! Show me what you have!
Stephanies_WRX 02-16-2006, 01:20 AM I have a 5Zigen that is really quiet. I'm in Westminster if you want to swing by and hear it sometime. Let me know. I would consider a trade.

mklier1218 02-16-2006, 07:28 AM stromung dual tip nice quiet rumble, but WOT it screams
VipersEatLotus 02-16-2006, 08:11 AM stromung dual tip nice quiet rumble, but WOT it screams
yeah i am not sure how it gets put into the quiet category. same with the perrin.
xcntrk75 02-16-2006, 09:13 AM The stock STI muffler is a nice upgrade. I use a loud ass strait through for the track and a nice n quiet sti muffler for the street. Event the butt-dyno can’t feel the hit in performance from the much quieter muffler.
psyber_0ptix 02-16-2006, 09:22 AM i have a prodrive, sometimes i think its too quiet, then i remember i live in fairfax
brickhoss 02-16-2006, 09:41 AM Do you actually have a Stromung available or where you just making a comment about it? If you do, I'd love to see it, otherwise, thanks for the comments so far guys, keep 'em coming!
Stephanie, I will PM you, I'm definitely interested in coming to see asap, I have to look it up and see what it looks like first though, check your PM!!!
ButtDyno 02-16-2006, 10:28 AM Scoobysport is also quite quiet. (but no way in hell am I selling/trading mine)

Nicklz 02-16-2006, 10:34 AM I was thinking OEM catback option, so you can say it is optional dealer installed equipment. Then use whatever combination for the rest of the exhaust. Haven't heard it before, but I just thinking if you get hastled by cops for a loud exhaust it might be an option.
I've got a full cobb exhaust and I don't think it is very loud at all, unless your wot, but I'm used to loud cars...
BlueBomber 02-16-2006, 11:12 AM i HAVE A BUSHUR CAT BACK FROM FASTWRX.COM, AND I WANT SOMETHING LOUDER CAUSE IT SEEMS REAL QUIET TO ME.

Bundyboyz 02-16-2006, 11:56 AM I have a blitz nur spec... deepest sound you can get... use the silencer if you want it quiet... works well mine doesn't rattle.
MidnightSti05 02-16-2006, 12:02 PM i have the turboXS axel back it sounds great if you are outside the car but I can't here it at all inside the car. I"m debating on what to with it because its 2.5 inch so i still have the stock midpipe and resonator.
Anyway that axelback is super quiet but still has a lot of rumble to it.

brickhoss 02-16-2006, 05:39 PM You guys are funny... :p
I don't see any Bushur on fastwrx.com.
I'll search Nasioc to see what I can find.
From this point forward, those wishing to sell/trade, please specify. I'm having a hard time figuring out if people are saying they want to sell their exhaust or they're just stating that what they have would be a viable option for me to look for. Thanks guys, I'd like to get into a new exhaust by this weekend possibly, so keep the hits coming.
Hellbound 02-16-2006, 07:28 PM I'm interested in a quiter exhaust also, hopefully this summer..but I was curious if any of these still have a canister style muffler..I don't really like the dual tip look it seems to stock..
MdWRX 02-16-2006, 08:01 PM I have the spt exhaust I will sell it's practically brand new
brickhoss 02-17-2006, 02:27 AM Is the SPT 3" ? How much do you want, and when can I meet you to see it? PM me!

brickhoss 02-17-2006, 10:49 AM Replied to PM's.
MDRex I left you my number, call me asap if you get a chance I'd like to meet up!
Anyone else selling/trading exhausts???
Siper2 02-17-2006, 10:51 AM For the best sound, my vote goes to Prodrive, Hayward & Scott, SPT/STi, Brullen, Stromung, Cobb.
Those are my favorites. The Autospeed one is also very nice, and appears to be very well-built. Prodrive and SPT I'd say are the quietest of the above, except for maybe the Brullen "Quiet" version. Prodrive is awesome, not as loud as the H&S under acceleration.
=S2=
Wrinkleboi 02-17-2006, 10:58 AM i have a prodrive muffler for sale for $275 picked up. its in like new condition and i can take some pics if you're intersted. i'm located a bit north of philly and am really looking for someone to pick this up. i'd drive down towards philly to help meet up if you wanted though.

brickhoss 02-17-2006, 11:09 AM Wow... Philly is quite a ride from here, but I have a friend that goes up there quite often... If you have pics post 'em up. Is it a 2.5 or 3"?

ALL prodrives are 2.5"
Siper2 02-17-2006, 11:30 AM Yep, psyber beat me to it. :)
H&S are too, but you can order those in 3" ... not so with Prodrive.
brickhoss 02-17-2006, 11:24 PM Well everyone... Thanks for your replies. I bit the bullet this evening and ordered a Borla Hush Catback off of one of the vendors on NASIOC. Seemed to be the way to go as that was my favorite, and the price was great. Thanks again!
