View Full Version : 11.6@121mph. Stock block, GT35R
burnin4 02-18-2006, 03:31 AM I went to the qtr mile strip tonight, best pass was 11.6 @ 121mph. stock block, UR GT35R kit, 93 pump with methanol+2 gallons of 110. peak boost was 1.9 bar in 5th gear.

I drove 195 miles to the track, made 4 pass's, and drove 195 miles home  . My car dyno'd 500/485 on 93+meth at TopSpeed. Bigs props to Doug for tuning my car, and to UR for their great GT35R kit. I was also on 18inch wheels, 1.69 60ft.

BLUE STINGER 02-18-2006, 03:38 AM Good stuff man!:) Hope to see some 10sec passes in the near future.
04blue-meanie 02-18-2006, 03:59 AM mad props for doing this all on a stock block. How many miles do you have on it with this setup?
burnin4 02-18-2006, 04:02 AM mad props for doing this all on a stock block. How many miles do you have on it with this setup?
2500 hard core miles. I've been to the local 1/8 mile twice, and a 400 mile round trip to a qtr tonight. everytime I get in the car, it's to rape it  . I dont expect the stock block to last forever, but I'll be buying a new one in a week or so. thanks!
DoctorNick 02-18-2006, 04:09 AM Congrats! That thing must have some wicked traction issues on the street
bunot 02-18-2006, 04:22 AM congrats!!
put some C16 so you can break the 11.5 barrier!!
nice run, I bet you impressed a few people there.
jgheels2003 02-18-2006, 08:51 AM Awesome stuff man. I know she has 125 in her now w/o the knock in 5th. Terrific driving!
beavis820 02-18-2006, 08:51 AM congrats. any vid? did you flat foot shift on that pass?
BAMA RS 02-18-2006, 08:57 AM Nice time and nice 60'! What RPM do you launch at?
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:10 AM Congrats! That thing must have some wicked traction issues on the street
I got 6k out of a set of pirelli corsa's, and would spin in 2nd, 3rd, at 4500 rpms. I put a new set of falken azenis 615's on yesterday, and drove 195miles to the track, no traction problems. it still spins a little from a slow roll in 2nd, but that's ok :D
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:12 AM nice run, I bet you impressed a few people there.
it's funny because many people at the dragstrip still have no idea what our cars are, they kind of walk up and ask "what is it?"
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:14 AM Awesome stuff man. I know she has 125 in her now w/o the knock in 5th. Terrific driving!
no doubt, that slight knock in 5th gear lowered my et's and mph. it's much more humid down here than when it was tuned in Dec in atl, but Dougs going to change all that when he's down here in a few weeks. thanks! btw, you are next dude!
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:16 AM congrats. any vid? did you flat foot shift on that pass?
actually, a guy got one of my pass's on video but it wasnt my best one. I'll have him post it up asap. No flat foot shifting, but might try it in the future.
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:19 AM Nice time and nice 60'! What RPM do you launch at?
i blip the rpms to about 5k and slip the clutch. i still have a hard time with consistentcy on my launches, even after 150 attempts. I used to nail 1.6's every time out when I had stock wheels and tires, but these 18's are a little trickier.
b4437 02-18-2006, 09:27 AM i hope u get in the 10's when u r using c16.
MrH00nel2 02-18-2006, 09:29 AM sexy car
xcntrk75 02-18-2006, 09:36 AM Nice man... 27.5psi of boost is no joke! Now you need some forged pistons to keep it running that strong… ;)
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:38 AM i hope u get in the 10's when u r using c16.
when I upgrade the block next month I'm going to get a map for c16. i dont think it's possible with my current setup, 10's need a trap speed of a 128mph+. 10's are pretty hard to reach, my ultimate goal will be sub 11.5's at 125mph+, which is just enough to beat any exotic on the road (gallardo, carrera GT, Z06, enzo, ford gt, etc)
MARKGSTI 02-18-2006, 09:39 AM Congrats :)
Good respectable time..Looking forward to some race gas #'s
beavis820 02-18-2006, 09:40 AM No flat foot shifting, still using the clutch.
you still use the clutch when you flat foot shift, you just dont let off the gas. next time your out try it and i bet you'll be impressed. on a larger turbo it'll help hold boost on the shifts.

Add some headwork/cams and maybe....but then again what A/R are you running?
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:42 AM Nice man... 27.5psi of boost is no joke! Now you need some forged pistons to keep it running that strong… ;)
i know, I feel like I'm on borrowed time, but it wont be long until i install the new block.
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:42 AM Congrats :)

thanks man! I strive to impress people like you :D .
burnin4 02-18-2006, 09:48 AM Add some headwork/cams and maybe....but then again what A/R are you running?
i know there is more power to discover in the heads/cam, but I'm gonna upgrade the block first and see how it goes. .82 a/r.

oh, ok, might try that. I've heard of flat foot shifting but never tried it, thanks.
SW00P_G 02-18-2006, 10:19 AM a tank of pump gas + 2 gallons of 110 = blown up motor! Hehe J/K Awesome runs man!.
burnin4 02-18-2006, 10:24 AM a tank of pump gas + 2 gallons of 110 = blown up motor! Hehe J/K Awesome runs man!.
i actually had about 2 gallons of 93, so it was closer to a 50/50mix. still pushing the envelope though.
Ultimate Racing 02-18-2006, 10:28 AM i know there is more power to discover in the heads/cam, but I'm gonna upgrade the block first and see how it goes. I cant remember the a/r but I'm sure Doug will chime in here today and help answer that question.
Congratulations, Austin! FYI, your GT35R is a .82 a/r.

silentbob343 02-18-2006, 12:10 PM silly question, but who/what did you run against? 13.8@82mph something must have happened to that car.
SilverSurfer04STi 02-18-2006, 12:16 PM Congrats Austin. Glad to see you are already close to your goal the first time out. Good job.
burnin4 02-18-2006, 12:20 PM can u post ur mod list?
thats a great time w/ great power.
Thanks! the mods are UR GT35R kit, ecutek/utec combo, 816's, walbro fp, invidia titanium catback, smc meth kit, pwr aluminum radiator, perrin fmic with blow through maf, tial bov and 44mm wastegate, exedy twin disc, avcr, etc. The #1 mod was the tune from TopSpeed, Doug managed 531whp/500tq on 93 pump and meth, but we backed it down to 500/485 for safety. here's a little more info on my car http://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38417&highlight=gt35r
burnin4 02-18-2006, 12:21 PM silly question, but who/what did you run against? 13.8@82mph something must have happened to that car.
it was a primer colored mustang, and i think i hurt his feeling after the 60ft and he gave up
burnin4 02-18-2006, 12:22 PM Congrats Austin. Glad to see you are already close to your goal the first time out. Good job.
thanks Dave, good to hear from you! Hope you and the family are doing well.

ryanpietro 02-18-2006, 02:08 PM awsome time. I don't believe flat foot shifting safe with ecutek? I know hydra has the ability to do it. Anyways i just wanted to say great run burnin4. post that video even if it wasn't your best everybody here loves watch gt35r suby's. keep up the good work. O and what shortblock are you going to buy?

thanks! still scared to flat foot shift, worried about the potential damage from the learning curve, even though I'm sure it has it's benefits. I'm already working on the video, hopefully be able to post it up soon. I'm leaning towards the gruppe-s stg 2 shortblock.
metoo 02-18-2006, 02:22 PM here's a little more info on my car http://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38417&highlight=gt35r
What size MF tube is that? It loks small, but maybe that's not an issue with Ecutek. Is that the case?
ryanpietro 02-18-2006, 02:35 PM is the gruppe-s stg2 just forged pistons? because thats all you need? make sure you get some cobb bearing in it tho, i dont trust the stockers.
Beebs99 02-18-2006, 02:42 PM Hey man, good run there! I'm very impressed with those times on stock block, not to mention the fact that you drove 3 hours up to the track and 3 hours back. I met you at the subway on the way up there. I thought about taking my girlfriend down to Montgomery to watch your car run, but we were about an hour away in Auburn, so you were probably running when I got to her place. Everyone, burnin4 is a real nice guy IRL and he let me take a look at his GT35r.
PKSJ4 02-18-2006, 03:53 PM just to show all dynos are different:
500whp (topspeed) 11.6 1/4 mile.
theirs a a white sti here in sacramento that dyno'ed 404whp on gruppe-s dyno, he ran a 11.7 in the 1/4 mile.
while back a white sti in bay area dyno'ed 342whp on vishnus dyno, he ran a 11.87 in the 1/4 mile.
just a thought to you guys. and driver does make a difference :D
IMPORTIMAGE 02-18-2006, 05:07 PM Great times! those Enkei RPF1's sure are light! they look great on your car too!

gruppe-s stg 2 block is much more than just forged pistons, check this out http://www.gruppe-s.com/Subaru/submotors.htm

et's are hard to use for comparing dyno's, MPH is the best source.
burnin4 02-18-2006, 05:29 PM Great times! those Enkei RPF1's sure are light! they look great on your car too!
thanks, i like the rpf1's. they are not the fanciest wheels on the market, but they have form and function, and they mean buisness
beecha91 02-18-2006, 05:31 PM Sick man I hope to be there in a few weeks, trying to figure out where im gonna be in the hp scale  I will have ported heads and built block tho with the .82 35R. Hows the twin plate holding up, thats what I will be running too? Thanks man SICKK!

hybooststi 02-18-2006, 08:36 PM hey congrats burnin4. especially on 18's. you know if you get the curiosity to know "how fast could i really go?" put on your stock bbs 's and through in that shortblock and c16 ,i think you'll go alot lower than 11.5! good luck , great job!

wrxtremeWGN 02-18-2006, 08:41 PM nice, great et and trap!! glad to see a topspeed car at the track to match those dyno numbers!

so far so good, but it's still kinda noisy and grabby, but it comes with the territory of owning a performance clutch, at least it was expensive

i know, I had the same conversation today with another member. i like the idea of racing with the parts/setup that got me through the front gate, it kind of bugs me when I see all the Cobra's and LS1's that put rear drag radials/slicks on just to get a lower et but cant run the same #'s out on the street. although that is part of drag racing. thanks!
Genesis 02-18-2006, 10:04 PM wow that's quick

ShaggyGT 02-19-2006, 06:34 PM Very nice times. You definitely have a well setup car. I finally came to my senses and bought the UR GT35R kit. After trying several other kits I figured it was time to try the best on the market. :D
