Just picked it up tonite.

GLI has that same red outline on the grill. That's awesome the color is what threw me off I didn't know which colors were out yet. I heard they were starting off with just red black and white. I guess not sweet car though those have tons of potential my brother has a VW and is on VWVortex and was just telling me about how easily you can get power out of those today. I can't tell the exact color of yours though is it the grey color or black? Also, did you get DSG or the 6 speed?

It's tempting to sell that's for sure....but at this point it feels like there's no turning back. Modding a new GTI would not be cheap either but man it could be such a hot car! :alien:

the only problem with A3 is the FWD... the quattro is way too expensive and won't be t/c. Of course the traction control makes up for it, and the handling is still super tight.

I have always loved VWs and Audis I'm definetly getting one as my next car. My brother has taught me to love the German cars. RUMOR on VW Vortex has it that with an exhaust and chip in the new GTI it's supposed to bump it up to around 240whp, but that is just a rumor and things are being tested still of course, but you're supposed to get great power out of them. Also, the DSG is supposed to be amazing and Porsche is actually taking it from Audi to use in their new cars. The shifts are really fast but I don't know I hear a ton of good things, but I think I'd still go 6 speed. Either way they're awesome.

If any of you guys want a VW, PM me. I work at North Scottsdale VW. I will even give an out the door price so you can shop me. We don't put any of the JUNK on our cars such as desert paint protection and things like that.

Yes, there is someone on vw vortex testing the neuspeed chip - I'll wait until it's worked out before I buy it.

The dsg really is good. The shifts are incredibly fast and it has these funny manual mannerisms, like it rolls backwards on hills like a 6spd and doesn't roll forward if you're at a stoplight and take your foot off the brake.

The FWD v. AWD isn't as big a deal for me now that I live in CA instead of rainy, snowy Oregon. It's kind of fun to have a car that loosens up its rear-end!

Vw's reliablity has gone up like 20% in 06+ (well at least o6's coming into the vw i shadowed have came in for 20% less problems.. unfortuantly 20% less is still a butload of unreliablity...

I personally don't like the taste of vw... but i havent seen a new gti upclose yet.

I knew there would be mixed reactions to VW on a Subie site. I've always liked the styling of the MK4 GTI and golf, but the interiors and performance never wowed me. This MK5 was a real eye opener.

We were going to buy a new Civic and only stopped in at the VW dealership because it was between Avondale Subaru and Earnhardt Honda. After driving the GTI everything else fell short. The new Civic felt cheap and even my wife remarked on the "lack of cojones". She, of course, wanted an automatic in whatever we bought, and I was not looking forward to prospect of an auto tranny on a 140hp lump.

DSG = Fun :banana: It's like shifting gears in Gran Turismo. You can use the gear selector or the paddle shifters. I can't wait till the break-in period is over.
