Ok so I need some help making a desicion, or possibly just some input. First question is if anyone knows how much STOCK 2006 wrx rims weigh. I'm wondering because thinking of getting some emotions.. if the stockers weigh close emotions weigh I might just keep the stockers and have them powdercoated black.

My next question is, if I do decied to keep the stockers and have them powdercoated I'll probably put some new rubber on them, the stuck rubber is terrible. Anyone know a great tire to wrap the OE 17's in??

Thanks!

The Emotions are fairly heavy, they probably don't weigh much less than the stockers, if at all. They do look a lot nicer though. Either way, I'd go with either the Falken RT-615 or find a set of RE070 takeoffs (stock STi tires).

....I believe someone posted that the '06 17's weigh ~#17/ea....and from handling mine, that sounds about right.

....and a good tire for a rainy place like WA would be a Falken 451 or the Goodyear GS-D3 in 225/45 or 215/45

Definetly do not buy new wheels unless they are lighter than stock! Heavy wheels are not fun, I know from experience :(

Paint or powdercoating will be a nice cheap way to make it look nicer/more unique.

That's preatty much exactly what I was thinking of doing. Theres a local place that's quoting 75$ a wheel, I'm not sure if its a good deal or not but the do preatty good work. I know the emotion 17x8's weigh in about 20 or 21lbs so if my stockers are lighter that answeres my question there. I do like the 8 inch width for the wider footprint but I can live till I can afford some volks.

Are the takeoffs any good in the rain? I would need something that handled really well in the rain too, at the moment don't have a sperate pair of "winter wheels/tires" .
