I recently put McCulloch 9007 HID headlights in my 2002 WRX and am having some problems with them. When my car is in gear and I try to turn the lights off either they will not go off at all or they will flash on and off very rapidly. These occurances seem to rotate. One time when I try to turn them off they will flash and then if I turn them back on and try to turn them off again they will remain on even when the stick says they should be off and so on. However when my car is in park they turn on and off perfectly fine as my old headlights did. I also noticed that when my headlights are on and I turn my fog lights on the signal for high beams shows in my dash and the green light on my fog light button no longer lights up. I knew ahead of time that by putting these lights in I would be losing my high beams because my low and high beams are in the same bulb from the factory but HID does not have the combined bulb so I am not worried about that but not being able to turn my lights on and off while in gear bothers me. Does anyone know if this problem can be fixed and if so, how? Thanks for the help.

Have you disabled the daytime running lights? If not, you'll want to disconnect those. Check the below thread on how to do so ;)

As far as I know the 02 WRX does not have day time running lights. I have always left my lights on and when I turn off the car it cuts power to everything, thats why there is that button on the steering column for the parking lights when the car isn't running so I can have lights on (at least thats what the dealer told me). I will take a look to see if I can find this connector though. Thanks for the suggestion.

IIRC, all of the WRXs (from '02 - '06) come with DRLs (daytime running lights) from the factory. The button on your steering column is for the parking lights - more info on that can be found here (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=502948). Many members have reported your problem when going to HIDs. Just make sure you disconnect the DRL unit behind the glovebox and not the one in the engine bay, as that's just a drop resisitor - not the main unit.

They all have DRLs.

unplug the DRL module to the right of the glovebox.
