Only 2 Subarus represented. A white TS in E stock and my blue RS in D/SP.
There are just 3 of us in D/SP. The other two guys are fast, have fast cars and experience. Marc Sasso with a red Integra is usually the fastest. Terence Chu with a blue BMW 325 is usually pretty close to Marc's times.
I went first and cleaned a 49.9. Terence got a 48.7 with a cone and Marc a 48.7 clean. So that was the time to beat. I had only just made the race cos I fell asleep in the car around lunchtime. My first run was a bit of a haze and I realized I should try and wake up.
My second run was a clean 49.1 and I was starting to recognize where I was losing time. Terence cleaned a 48.7 and Marc DNF'd with a 49.3. There's about 0.03 between them.
My last run was a scratch 48.6 which beat all their scratch times... but ... I hit one stupid, meaningless cone. I was just running too close. I could have been wider, it would have made no difference.
That moment of stupidity is where the championship ended. Instead of going into tomorrow either leading or being within 0.1 or so, I'm now 0.4 behind. I would have to beat them both by 1/2 a second and that's just not going to happen.
I'll have fun giving it a go. I have nothing to lose and if I manage it that will be one big save :)
I wonder if some support would have helped get the adrenalin going and given me an edge. Perhaps the wife not doing me a favour yesterday and filling the car with gas would also have helped. Whatever, I should have helped myself and missed the stupid cone. That's a lesson learned.
For sure, the car is quick enough in its class. With the STI 4 pots and more seat time on these new tires and it will be even better.
Maybe I'll do the full season next year when an off day isn't the be all and end all.
I hope to see some of you guys out tomorrow. You can run the regional or just come out and watch.
