DanzBorin 03-06-2006, 02:58 PM Just to let people know, the bottom mounts on the 05 STi struts are wider than regular WRX (and 04 STi)...
they might or might not work... if they do work, there will be a bit of space between the mounts and the knuckle...

Are you refering to the 'washer' mod, Ex-driver of the van of doom? ;)

I've heard of using washers on the shaft under the topmounts, and I guess you could do so on the bottom... I haven't looked into it... just wanted folks to know since I saw a lot of 02-04 WRXs inquiring... ;)
FM Scooby 03-14-2006, 10:11 PM Anyone?
jamesohoh7 03-16-2006, 12:09 AM 05 STi struts will not fit anything other than an '05 or '06 STi (or really, anything with the steering knuckle of either of those cars).
There is no easy 'washer-mod' for the bottom knuckle-mounts. The ears are wider + the bolt-holes are further apart, top-to-bottom, IIRC.
Someone in the suspension forum 'adapted' a set to fit... it required welding (and actually, they may have used a washer to 'relocate' a set of holes (ouch!.. dass gotta hoight!).
Not trying to rob the seller of a sale, but I'd hate to see someone buy them that couldn't use them, and then start a flame-war on the boards about being ripped off when it could be avoided to begin with :)
WRXTuan 03-16-2006, 12:27 AM Good info, but as a college student without money, it's hard to actually get money. Free Bump.

Yoo Shin 03-28-2006, 02:06 PM What condition are the Tanabe GFs in? How many miles? How much $$$ are you asking?
How did/do they compare to the stock STI springs?
Wheeler Bement 03-28-2006, 02:28 PM FYI
if you just have to have STI springs, swap the springs and hats onto your current stock struts. The sti springs are shorter, so you don't need a spring compressor. I did mine in my garage. The Wife helped me by running the impact gun, I just pushed down on the hats...I weigh all of 155. Of course, when I went back to put the stock springs on, I had to buy the spring compressor. however, these were 04 springs onto an 02 wagon. also, they dropped the car 1/2" all around.
