Ok this is really starting to piss me off    I go to murrys, pick up a red top, find out it wont work and i need a reverse post. I go back and order the reverse post and with the batt locked down the power wire dosnt have enough slack to reach it, the only way for it to work is for me to tilt the batt sideways, what am i doing wrong here.
Part # is RED34R

Had the same problem. What I did was extend the battery cables. The best way would be to lenghen the 4 guage wire fom the battery post to the starter + terminal. Or, this is what I did, I made a small 4-5 inch long battery cable (1 gauge) with two 3/8" eyelets at each end. I then bolted one end of the new cable to the battery post on the clamp. The other end was bolted to the original starter cable with the two other leads between them. I had two other cables, one to the fuse/relay box, and one to my stereo. I used some anti corrosion goop and thuroghly wrapped all the expossed connections in a thick layer of electrical tape. I was able to use the standard optima and have had no problems with an extra connection within the circut.
Works great, just make sure you insulate everything well. Negative was long enough to work.

battery laying sideways could be bad. Like if the two terminals hit the engine of the fender you will have a batt welded to your car ;) .

Take that one back, go to www.remybattery.com and order a 35-910 (Red Top Group 35). It will fit with no issues.

Mine fits with no issues (35-910, I think, from remybattery). Get that one.
