Well there I was,in my freshly cleaned black 2.5rs cruizin in the fast lane going from montreal to connecticut. Traffic was moving freely, as I was going about 80mph following a truck. The truck suddenly swerved out of the fast lane, right across the slow lane and immediatly off an exit. And i see something fall out of the back (his tailgate was open) and is bouncing towards me. Im thinking "What the fu......WHAM!!". I hit a paint can.
I diddnt know what to do exactly as I watch it tumble in my rear view mirror. I was stunned and thought: "I could pull over and do nothing, or stop when i need gas and do nothing." Well I puller over when I needed gas and looked at my bumper; no damage. So I start pumping my gas and im looking at these little specs all over the right side of my car. Then it hit me, it was a can of orange paint, and it spattered my whole right side with little sandgrain sized specs and globs on the under carriage. I had plenty of room between me and the truck, but I couldnt merge because there were a few cars there, brakes werent on too long either. I tried using 100% paint thinner, which diddnt work. But a body shop will get it all off with rubbing compound and a buffing wheel. This is a new one huh guys? By the way, any other suggestions for removal, or is it time to call insurance and go gunmetal?

How long was it before you could get to trying to take it off?

Something similar happened to me recently at lower speeds. I immediately pulled over at the next gas station and washed off as much as possible before heading straight home.

It took a few days, two cans of Klean-Strip paint prep cleaner (NOT the stripper) from Pep Boys, a Dremel to the grooves in the tires, a little rubber spray undercoat for the wheelwells, and a re-polish to get it back to normal. :(

I'd see what your local detailer might suggest before checking out the local paint/body shop...

I had something similar happen to me. New black WRX, puddle of red paint on the highway. I ended up with red paint inside the right front wheelwell, and all over the side of the vehicle.

I managed to get most of the paint off with rubbing alcohol. However, I think it was latex and not acrylic. Two coats of 3M "wet look" liquid wax afterward really helped the looks too.

You might want to look into the Mothers' California Clay Bar system too. I haven't used it personally, but a friend of mine had good luck using the clay bar to remove overspray when he didn't look what was downwind of his spray painting project.

Good luck with the cleaning/detailing.

Sure sure... blame those specs on an "accident", we all know you're just trying to keep up with the latest Honda craze of 'high-speed orage' paint. ;)

I got some road line paint down my passenger side from them not putting up wet paint signs. Got out of my car looked back as I walked in side and noticed the car was yellow.

I just soaped her up with a good tar remover and scrubbed for about 30 minutes. Came right off.
