My car is currently in a shop. They are telling me that it's having trouble idling because the throttle plate stays shut at idle. They say it's not the same as the us wrx method. Can someone please tell me how to adjust it before the shop spends three hours of labor trying to figure it out?

The motor is a v5 sti in a '98 rs.

Mine had trouble opening, because the cable was too short, is your cable the right length?

EDIT: NVM, just read your post better, and it said at IDLE.

you still may be right, but who knows.

i thought V5 would be close to the same as a ej205?

Isn't the IAC there to regulate the air entering at idle? Throttle plate should stay closed when there's no tension on the cable.

That's what I was thinking. I think it's an IAC issue...

Yes tell them not to touch the throttle stop screw, its lock-tited for a reason. there are other issues and if your garage doesnt know this I would be scared!

Thanks, I'll call them tomarrow. I thought this was supposed to be a reputable shop that's performed quite a few swaps, but I'm starting to have my doubts.
