View Full Version : Tinkering with UTEC knock thresholds...

I had an idea that might be useful, might be annoying, might just not work. Goes like this: set the thresholds of knock in the range I can get above 1 bar boost pressure (so like 2k range and up I guess) so that the UTEC thinks I'm always knocking a certain ammount, like 10. Obviously also change the dynamic timing retard to something like 11 count and less */noise. That way you can log whenever you want and know relative to your tune if you are quiet, on spot, or knocking. Normally you only know you are below your threshold, but not by how much.

It relies on the question: does a more "successful" burn create more engine noise or is the knock detection in the UTEC only good for a "its too late" scenario? Has anyone tried this?

Cool idea have you tried this? Any logs?

I haven't tried yet :(

It relies on the engine being louder the "better" the burn is...I don't know if this is true.

Even if the burn is not louder when its better, you will be able to see more in the logs, and maybe we can learn what to look for after analyzing some logs. Kind of like digital det cans for the deaf.
