View Full Version : Gum on Paint

At yesterday's AutoX, someone with gum on their bum leaned on my fender, which lead to gum on his bum and gum on my fender. I tried rubbing with some cleaner but it just smudged it and didn't come off.

Anyone have this happen before that can tell me how to get it off? I thought about using the old trick of holding ice against it, but figured I'd ask before standing there for 30 mins with an ice pack.

Thanks,

Just buy some touch-up paint and cover it up!

Try "Goof Off" - it's pretty strong stuff. I removed the airbag labels from my visors with it.

Mother's Mag Wheel Polish is all you'll need. It'll take it right off

I used wd-40 the other day to get gum off my shue and clutch pedal. it was really annoying to drive home w/ my foot sticking to the pedal. but the wd-40 takes it right off.

Make sure you re-wax if you use anything corrosive like wd-40. I would use the bug and tar remover.

I'll have to pick up some bug & tar stuff... I had thought about goof off, but that stuff's a little more corrosive than I want to dump on my paint :)

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
