The muffler is stainless steel but the piping is not. The tip is 114.3mm.

I recently saw one of those and the piping is way thicker than stock! Very nice sounding though I'm not sure if there were gains from it. The owner was very vague and skirted the "gains" issue.

I love mine. It cleared the Dif. protector. It looks and sounds great. Got mine for $400.00 in Hawaii. Don't know about any power gains.

do you have to do any bending on the heatshields at all?

can you use the factory hangers?

thanks, thinking about getting one too. :D

If you are getting the direct bolt-on rear section, you probably don't need any modification. You only have to purchase it and then replace with your stock exhuast:).

Unless you are looking for universal muffler, which I have one for sale. PM me if you are interested:) .

hummmm.. is there a difference inside the can of a turbo and non-turbo universal muffler? that area is so gray I dont trust them unless its like a apexi or something.

I'd have to say mine is pretty damn loud. It's definitely a deep sound and it sounds like my brother's 1990 Mustang GT. Gets pretty loud on the highway though. As far as gains, they were pretty minimal since it's only an axel-back...my butt-dyno would say 5 hp at the very most. I don't have a stock baseline dyno sheet but my Nur Spec combined with my Blitz SUS Power intake dyno'd at 202.6 awhp:

I just got mine.

I'm not too crazy about it. It DOES look really good. The fit wasn't stellar...everything else I've tried was perfect.

I've had the stock (duh), Greddy EVO cat-back, Prodrive axle-back, and now the Blitz axle-back.

Number one...this thing is stupid loud. I know it comes down to your own opinion though. No taking the boss to lunch in this thing!

I'm ignorant and only want it on my car cause it says Blitz on it  To think I've lookd for months to get one of these.

Of all the systems I've tried, the Prodrive hands down sounds the best. Can't beat it's low grumbly sound!

I think the Blitz is a little loud as well. Thus why I'm waiting on my silencer to get in. =) I'll let ya know what I think with the silencer in.

kenchan
06-02-2002, 01:28 AM
huh, that loud huh? oh well. thought the NUR was THE THING! but guess the prodrive ones sound better....

i ordered the catback version today to see how it is for myself. :p im sure ill be getting some decent gains from the catback instead of just da axle back. :D

kenchan

got the blitz nur catback installed. damn, some serious mid-high torque gains this thing has. hehehehe!!! :p the fitment was perfect. its pretty loud without the silencer that comes with it, but its got an excellent pull and tone at wot. :D

Kenchan: Do you have any other cats... Are you running any downpipe? Catless?

kenchan
07-15-2002, 06:51 PM
im using stock cats. you wont get huge gains without taking out the cats and downpipe. but you will feel a decent gain from the stock setup especially mid-high rpm with just the catback. :D

and it sounds great too with the silencer.

i love my cat-back, loud as hell but I like noise, I am going to have to find a fix for the awful rattling that occurs with the silencer installed.

i know without the sliencer it's really loud. but how would u compare the stock system and the blitz cat-back with the sliencer???

I'm running catless now with a Godspeed uppipe and HKS downpipe. It is LOUD. I tried putting the silencer in but it rattles and buzzes like a bee...sounds really bad :( Here's short video:

According to my friend, I do indeed get flames between shifts during hard acceleration :) I did get a CEL but I haven't had it checked yet to see if it was cat ineffiency or if it was related to me overboosting, since I'm pretty sure I did hit boost cut.

I've seen this exhaust for $330 + shipping at http://www.gruppe-s.com. Am I missing something? Why are people paying over $400 for this?

I'm pretty sure most people aren't paying MSRP on it anymore. I got mine for $350. Thanks for posting a link.

I Have had the CAT-BACK for 3 months now and i havent had any problems or any complaints.
But in my opinion the Cat back is the way to go. you get more HP gains out of it than you will an axel back.
but if you just want you car to sound diffrent and dont want to see much in the way of HP gains, get an axel back.

thats just my $0.02

I got the cat back just last week. Installation was easy, no difficulties thanks to fellow I-clubber Marty in Austin.

My issue is the sound. It is very loud IMHO. Great sounds - very very deep but just a little loud for me.

So I put the silencer on first Monday morning and use pliers to tighten that screw so it will not rattle. I head off to work and it is not too loud. I am thinking, I can live with this but it still looks a little ugly. Then, suddenly it gets loud. I am thinking I must be imagining that loudness b/c I expect it to be loud. I roll down the windows and I don’t hear rattling anymore. I pull over and look and the freakin silencer fell off somewhere on the road.

I went back later that day after work and picked up my silenser on the side of the road.

The silencer(blitz nur) will stop rattling if you take it and ever so slightly bend the edges of it out with a pair of pliers. Test fit and then bend more if needed. With a racing downpipe(hks3") my car is more than just aggressive sounding... It's scary loud. It trips every aftermarket car alarm from a half a block or so. The dash board shakes. I almost forgot I had a stereo. The addition of the silencer adds noticable low end torque and returns the sound to stock levels. It tends to lag on the top end with it in though. I mostly ride with no silencer. It's amazing what we can get used to I love the sound now(It hurt my head at first).
cheers,
fookster:devil:
