View Full Version : Utec Without Abc Valve gaby 02-27-2006, 11:35 PM Anyone have used the UTEC boost controler without the ABC valve? Where do you hide the map switch? gaby 02-27-2006, 11:52 PM Sorry, I just bought one use and it didn't came with the abc. I intended to use it in a WRX 04. gaby 02-28-2006, 01:12 AM Anyone??????????? Gethin 02-28-2006, 01:38 AM You can use the factory boost controller and UTEC without the ABC but if you don't hit your psi targets with values in the boost map alone you need the ABC as a bleeder to get to those targets (which is specified in the UTEC user manual). The UTEC is not a boost controller btw it's a piggyback ECU and can control fuel, timing, boost and a host of other goodies, if you dont know that already. http://www.turboxs.com/downloads/UTEC%20User%20Manual%205.0.pdf You can stick the map switch anywhere you like! gaby 02-28-2006, 03:12 AM Thanks. I'll stick it where ever I wanted. Gethin 02-28-2006, 01:54 PM  gaby 02-28-2006, 09:31 PM Bump. Rich10 03-01-2006, 07:46 AM Why don't you contact TXS and see how much a new ABC is? gaby 03-01-2006, 10:44 AM Yea I already contacted them, It cost with the hardwarekit $35. MonoxideChild 03-01-2006, 12:39 PM i talked to someone named Nathan. he said the a.b.c. is 85$ and the hrdwr. kit is 35$ gaby 03-01-2006, 05:13 PM Hi, The UTEC Hardware kit can be purchased for $35, which will include everything you described below. Can you guys sell those items for a UTEC ver.5? That was the answer. xolosis 03-04-2006, 08:26 AM May be too late but what I recommend is to do away with the ABC and get yourself a 3-Port Boost Solenoid. Perrin and Prodrive sell a good units. You don't have to worry about messing around with the turning the ABC when you don't reach your disired boost target; plus Perrin unit will control boost up to 120psi. Hope this is of some help... gaby 03-04-2006, 03:48 PM So the problem with the WRX is that the boost solenoid is to slow? Freon 03-04-2006, 05:22 PM The problem with the stock solenoid (if you have the problem, that is) is it doesn't bleed enough air to keep pressure off the wastegate. Another solution is to use a slightly smaller restrictor right off the compressor, or swap out the solenoid for either an interrupt solenoid, or a higher flowing bleed. There is no one piece that you can say is solely "at fault." There are multiple solutions. The factory setup is working as intended. gaby 03-06-2006, 06:03 AM I put a smaller restrictor(compresor side) and it hit 22 psi I went down on the bosst map to 75 on the 100%. It will hit 13.5psi but it peak 16 first. is there any way to control that peak with the UTEC (100 on the gain, 0 wastegate shut)? gaby 03-15-2006, 08:31 PM I fix it 80=16psi with the small restrictor, wich Im happy with. gpatmac 03-15-2006, 08:44 PM I've got an extra if you need it. gaby 03-15-2006, 09:15 PM thanks for the offer. It is working fine without it. gpatmac 03-15-2006, 09:38 PM Okeydoke.:) |
