here in LA I was with 21st century for 3 years with a Prelude and I paid 300 for every 6 months, well as soon as I call up to get the new rex insured they qoute me 980 for 6 months! I'm 32 with a perfect record, no claims no accidents no tickets...

So I made the switch to AAA, they want the same amount but for the whole year! much better.

I hate insurance companies. What other business can stereotype based on gender? Why should a male driver have to pay more than their female counterparts just because they're male? And what the hell is up with the damn government, females are basically equals to males now, but they still don't have to sign up for the selective services. If they want the same freedoms as the other people, they should have to give up the same things.

p.s. Ahh, feels much better now. And no disrespect towards the females on the board or anywhere, I'm just seeing a double standard here...

I live just outside DC and pay $1005 every 6. First bill and thought it was high, progressive wanted $1200:eek:

I quess that's just about right then, been with the same Insurance Company for 14 of my 14 years driving. 30, 1 ticket 2 years 9 monthes ago, should be off in three months (insurance looks back three years?) and NEVER made a claim. I thought that was high, my 94 Nissan P/U was about $1600 year so it went up $400 a year. That is close to what my insurance agent quoted over the phone 3 months ago. At that time she didn't have any info on the WRX so they based this on the value (Replacement Cost) of the vehicle. Does this sound right?

I might check out AAA.

Cost saving tips for insurance:

Get renters/homeowners insurance through the same company (if your car insurance company doesn't offer that, shop around) You should get a discount on each

Get married and put your spouses car on the same policy.

I did these 2 things and it cut my insurance in *half* it cost me more to insure my '90 RX-7 without comprehensive than it does to insure my WRX with comprehensive after those items. :) State Farm is charging me $750/yr for full coverage, no deductible. I'm 27, and I was uninsured for 4 years without a car...of course I live in the middle of BFE which helps, but it's still a sign that a little shopping around and wrangling with the agent can do some good.

For all the people on these boards that tell tales of their car buying/haggling experience I'm shocked at how many I find that take their insurance quotes without so much as a whimper.

I'm with 21st Century and my rates only went up about $60 every 6 months compared to insuring a Civic! I insured my car in March, maybe they didn't know what it was then?
I informed them it had a turbo...
maybe because it's a wagon?

IMHO, Insurance is taxation without representation! You are required to have it by law, but if you have a claim the insurance companies will gladly spend tens of thousands of dollars on lawyers trying not to pay what they owe!

it depends on where you live. Here in accident capital (new jersey) the insurance is SUPER high. Just be glad that you don't live in New Jersey.

I second that... it really does matter where you live. NH insurance on my rs is 2k a year (not a clean record), and in MA it's 3600. I also secong the whole glad I don't live in jersey part ;).
heh, Jersey isn't the end of the world, but you can see if from there.
