View Full Version : AZ Tuners???
sti 5501 03-02-2006, 06:21 PM Debating on Cobb Accessport or Ecutek. Have a chance to get a really good deal on an accessport but don't know if I feel comfortable with the Cobb tuners here??? Anyone have any experience with Cobb tuners here in AZ if so what mods do you have and how much power did you gain HP and Torque. Did you feel comfortable with them tuning your car Etc.
On the other hand I know we have a really good Ecutek tuner here just from reputation alone (Dyno Comp) I've only heard good things about this company. This is why I'm debating just to skip the Accessport deal and just get Ecutek.
szeny 03-02-2006, 07:30 PM I have ecutek and i love it. Havent delt with cobb. Mine was tuned by Clark Turner.
szeny 03-02-2006, 07:30 PM Oh and I think surge is gettin pro tuner soon if you wanted the cobb custom tune...

Only Cobb Protuner in AZ is Surge. Excellent shop run by really nice helpful people, but I don't know anyone who has been tuned by them yet.
VSB XT 03-02-2006, 07:42 PM I've got Ecutek as well but am looking for a reflash for new mods and found out by calling around that Mynes Performance has Ecutek now. So it looks like it's Dynocomp, Kingpin, Mynes, and Vivid that all have Ecutek now. If you get a good deal on Cobb AP I know Surge would do a great job on a Pro Tune. Marion(the owner) is a standup guy and business owner! Tough choices when there are so many options..... :alien:

Payback 03-03-2006, 01:31 AM Unfortunately I cannot comment, yet. My turbo was delayed by one day and now it won't get here until Monday. There goes the weekend. As soon as everything's installed, I will be heading out for a Protune.
sti 5501 03-04-2006, 12:03 PM Anyone have there car Protuned by surge yet? If so how did they do?
I'll tell you a little story of why i am so concerned with who tunes my car!!! Lived in California for quite some time and my buddy had a pretty sick RX-7. He took it to get dyno'd and tuned at a pretty reputable shop. After they where done they gave him a call and told him that his car is done and it made more power than it ever has!!! He was all exited so we went to go pick his car up. When we arrived his car was parked out in the parking lot so he went in to look at his dyno sheet and payed the bill, then he got in his car to start it only to find they had blown his motor :furious:

The guy is not shady at all. Go meet him at his shop, get to know him, and then decide. It's better getting to know a tuner and picking their brain first anyway and do your homework. It may pay off, especially when you look at the fact that all great tuners have to start somewhere even Dynocomp, Clark, Vishnu, etc. all had to start somewhere before getting a great reputation.
sti 5501 03-06-2006, 04:39 PM From what I've heard so far Marion @ Surge seems to be a pretty good guy I think I'll go check his shop out. Thanks for all the info!!! After I get protuned I will let you guys know how it went!!!
Marion is a really good guy. If you have got a good deal on an accesport that might be the way to go. Fact is, as you know, Marion is new to ProTuner but he is a very knowledgeable guy and is very friendly. (By jtoma IWSTI.com)

By the way what fun would searching be??? Imagine if every question had already been asked!!! What would we do always read the same old posts and never discuss new things that have came up since??? Think about it a new post on the same topic could shed a little bit more light on a topic don't you think!!! :D
WgnWheel 03-06-2006, 05:46 PM Marion has been playing around with protuner the last week or so. He did a stg 2 car friday, just to get more familiar with everything. Made some good/interesting gains on his stg2 sti so far. Give him a call, or better yet, stop by the store and chat with him if your interested in the pro tuner:)

Will is the key word. I said Surge is the only ProTunner in AZ, not will be.
