View Full Version : Insurance is great!! Check this out...
Keith 09-25-2001, 12:16 PM Ok, first off, lets blow up progressive.
Heres the story if u haven't seen it.
I sold my 99 rs and bought a wrx. I had both cars insured under progressive because I had a good rate with them.
So, I sell my RS, and have them drop that policey for that car because I didn't need it.
No problem, everything seems good.
WEll I get a letter last week saying that I don't have insurance on my WRX now!?? The DMV sent me that letter and they want proof on insurnace! Well, I call up progressive and ask what the hell is going on. They said when I canceled my policey that I took off both cars. I had explained to them that is NOT what I wanted to do, I had asked to take off ONE car and not the other.
Well they don't believe me or something and they said that they would NOT reinstate my last policey and I'd have to sign up for a new one. Now that wouldn't be a big deal if I was 50 years old or something, but I'm 22 with 2 speeding tickets.
So, my last policy, I was playing about 3k a year (which isn't to bad..its alot though) and now if I was to get insurance it would be $6k a year!!!
So I call the bastards (progressive) and after bickering for a while, they said that they are going to pull the tape of my conversation and review it. Like I'm friggen liying to them or somethning about this POS service reps!!!!!!!! So I have to wait 2 weeks or so for them to find my friggen tape and review it to see their fault! man I am so pissed with them, but there is nothing I i can do. I'm not going to waste my money on another insurance policy and get ripped offf because they F (holding back the bad words..) Up!
Oh yeah, and I don't have a job right now, so that $1,400 first payment to a new insurnace agency wouldn't be to good.
BAStARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keith
 <-thanks brucelee...thats better:)
RaceCarRiot 09-25-2001, 01:55 PM i'm 21...no accidents, no tickets, NOTHING. my rates with progressive have been steadily climbing all year...from $95/mo a year ago to $125 this month...
and it's not like i'm driving a WRX or an RS...i drive a frickin L for god's sake...IT'S AN 8 YEAR OLD ECONOMY CAR.
 :monkey:  :monkey:  :monkey:  :monkey:
Corn-Picker 09-25-2001, 02:31 PM 6K a year! For Christ's sake you could buy a new WRX in four years! Hopefully when they review the tape it will all be straightened out. "After further review of the tape we have determined that there is insufficient evidence to overturn the call, the play stands!"

SlideWRX 09-25-2001, 03:02 PM I had a different problem with progressive. When I purchased my WRX, it was no big deal, they moved me over to that as my primary ride (kept the old car for a while). Well, it is time for the annual renew, and they decide to double the insurance I was paying! I couldn't find any reason for the doubling listed, and I tried to find out with a phone rep, but they were not the smartest people. Afterward I figured out they decided to put my sister as a primary driver of the WRX, especially since she has a ticket (never mind that she has a company car for 99% of the time, and they KNEW that from day one). I didn't care to deal with the company after that, so I got some quotes, and now I am with AAA for less than half!
tell em to 'stick it up there ass'

Scoobyslack1 09-25-2001, 03:34 PM all insurance companies suck.......I moved and my new rate almost double and I'm 30 w/no tickets
CO WRX 09-25-2001, 04:30 PM When I got my 3000GT VR-4 I was quoted 2500 every 6 months 23 no tickets. I went to All-State and I got 539 every 6 months. I currently pay 510 every 6 months on insurance for my 2002 WRX. I believe you have to shop around to find the best rates. Progressive also screwed up my accident and it wasn't my fault. I had medical bills not paid for 90 days. In Colorado we use PIP so each insurance agency pays for the covered persons medical bills. Please stay away from any AIG company. Bad news, Bad services, and bad rates.

stimpy 09-25-2001, 04:43 PM I can vouch for the crappy AIG companies. They promised a 1 year rate drop (while charging a hefty penny) only to shut me down after the anniversary saying that the discount was never available in my area. I am currently with Progressive with a decent policy.

GRWRX 09-25-2001, 05:00 PM Keith:
Whatever company you decide to insure with, do it soon, I believe NYDMV fines $8.00 per day that you are uninsured. You might try GMAC/Integon or Travelers Specialty. Good luck.
MPREZYA 09-25-2001, 05:01 PM I am another with progressive charging me more now than 6 months ago and I have a brighton. Looks like I may be changing policy's. w+F
bemani 09-25-2001, 05:12 PM So you paid them $3k and you weren't even covered? Sue their sorry ass!
go go go 09-25-2001, 05:13 PM I'm in the worst situation.
21st century accidentally salvaged my car.
I'm stuck with it. I'm calling lawyer, DMV all sort of people but not successful to recover the clean title back yet:mad:
subarurabbit 09-25-2001, 08:05 PM Sorry to hear that Keith.
Mine is going to be like that I think.

doobie 09-25-2001, 08:11 PM I dropped pro********gressive for gieco and am saving a load of dough. May be worth your while to check em out.

Hyudra 09-25-2001, 08:47 PM My mom was paying 4k a year with progressive then switched to AIG direct, and pays 2k now.
I guess that was much better.
UCI_Scott 09-25-2001, 10:16 PM All the companies like Progressive and, even worse, Survival actively seek out the Jerry Springer guests as customers figuring if these losers can't manage any other parts of their life, what are the odds that they will have their act together enough to seek legal damages when the sleezy insurance company slips them the shaft.
And they are correct in their logic.
And if you do want to go to court and your damages are in the tens of thousands of dollars range, good luck finding a lawyer to take the case. Too much money for Small Claims Court but not enough money to be worth the lawyer's time. Better you should get whiplash :(

mr2guru 09-25-2001, 11:56 PM I cannot believe you guys!!!! I just bought a silver WRX And my insuranse full coverage $100 comp ded. is only 1100 a year!!!
Jim:eek: :D
closure 09-26-2001, 01:16 AM Not all insurance companies suck. USAA rocks the house if you are eligable to get it. Not only do they have fantastic service, I have actually gotten better service from dealerships and repair shops when they found out I have USAA. When I bought my scoob they dropped the price somemore when I told them I had USAA. It is almost like I showed them my secret decoder ring or something. ;)
Keith 09-26-2001, 02:03 AM do they have a web site?
rak328 09-26-2001, 02:19 AM USAA's website is http://www.usaa.com
To be eligible for insurance from them you have to be in the military or have parents in the military. My dad was in the air force so I'm lucky:) . But like Closure said, their service and rates are much better than most insurance companies.

Kostamojen 09-26-2001, 03:06 AM AAA has been good to me as well.
Keith 09-27-2001, 03:22 AM update. they are putting a rush on the tape..so thats good.
Bad news...I just re read the paper the DMV sent me...and it says this..
Dated 9-11-01
... send this back within 7 days or your licence and registration will be suspended..."
AND WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Yeah, I'm screwed so bad here...and so friggen anoyed... Bob Progressive is gonna get my foot up his ass!
I am going to have them handle this because its their fault.
Things cant get much better. If my car blows up for no reason tomorrow, I know someone has something out for me ;)
Keith
redobs 09-27-2001, 11:59 AM Keith, so have you been making payments on your insurance??? I mean, if they've been taking your money, you should have been insured!!!!!!
Also, try Amica! I have a friend who has them, and he absolutely loves them!
BrianR 09-27-2001, 12:24 PM Progressive is overly priced. They are good with handling claims, but that's about it.. I used to have 300,000 combined single limit comp w/ 1000 deductiable and payed 350 a month. Then I turned 21 and went with allstate, same coverage, i pay 114 a month. Needless to say, i'm happy. :) I couldn't wait until the day I could cancel my insurance to go with another company. Alot more money for mods.

BigElm 09-27-2001, 01:02 PM You be the professional here....
Though DMV requests a 7 day response, talk to them and explain the error that Progressive has done.
I'm sure if you give them a good reason to your delay, they will hold your registration until it gets sorted out.
Just be sure that you told them one and not the whole policy...then after you prove that, tell them you want a deduction on your premium for the aggravation and the bad record they reflected with DMV.
I know it's frustrating, but you have to be in control and be professional about it. Show the respect you deserve and it will be given accordingly. Trust me, it's not as bad as you think...
And if worse comes to worse, tell them you kept my money and my car wasn't insured? I'll have my lawyer contact you.
AFAIK, you always pay in advance for your car to be insured...so, they owe you if anything.....
Good luck ;)
Keith 09-27-2001, 04:24 PM Well I called the DMV and I'm all set. They don't suspend your licence or reg until 3 months, so I ahve 2 more months:)
As for progressive, I have bothered them a few times and they are trying to put a rush on this crap.
wish me luck:)
keith
RidinLow 09-27-2001, 07:23 PM Good luck, soon you'll be blazin yellow hip hop & R&B on the road again. :)
