World Exclusive

At the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford Motor Company had a concept car on display named “losis”, set to test the public’s reaction to what will become the next generation Ford Mondeo. The losis was loaded with high tech, gull wings and an all over futuristic design and was hard to imagine in the every day traffic .

Here now are the very first photos showing a prototype of the real upcoming production Ford Mondeo, due for launch in 2007. The current model has been on the market since 2000 and underwent a minor restyling in 2003.

The pictured prototype, nicely clad in a very individual padded disguise, got caught during a top secret fuel stop in Northern Scandinavia. When the driver spotted the photographer, he turned the prototype around and fled full speed.

The new Mondeo is being developed simultaneously in Cologne/Germany and in Great Britain. The test car is a four door sedan with a rather short boot, similar to the concept car. It is based on the new S-Max platform and the suspension is the same as in the latest Ford Focus.

Ford is likely to offer again fuel engines ranging from 4 to 6 cylinders and various 4 cyl. Diesel engines.

The photos are showing 7 pictures of the prototype and one computer image suggesting how the new Mondeo could look like upon its release.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
Seems huge compared to the last mondeo. Probably no chance of this coming stateside as a Contour (which is an awful name for such a cool sedan)

If Ford sold cars like that here, they would be doing a lot better.

They're designs suck right now. I saw some Euro Focus which would sell a lot here. I'd even buy it (if I didnt have the Subie :) ) But they give us garbage and wonder why the sales are down.

now that looks nice. if they had given the US that instead of the boring Five Hundred (which is a stupid name in itself), it could challenge the accord and camry

My god how many times have we been saying that!

It's like a damn broken record.
Pisses me off how inept Ford (and GM) management is, that they have great models elsewhere in the world, and they can't bring those models here, and instead develop totaly lame cars :cough:500:cough: and then complain why their sales are so bad!

If Ford had half a brain, they would sell the Euro models in the states...

Ford USA sucks nuts....Ford Europe should run the vehicle program here and than we would see some quality vehicles coming out of Ford....they have nothing good to offer now, and the built quality is very poor. I payed $28K for a Mustang that i should have only payed about 16K because it was piss poor quality......Ford USA sucks...its sad...they need to start getting their act together if they want to compete with all the other manufactures...I payed 24K for the WRX and its about 15X better built quality and over all better car....it makes me wonder how well would a 28-30K import car would be like.....

and I only got a 11K Trade for my 02 Mustang w/ 36K miles....my friend on the other hand got 17.5K trade in on his WRX that was an 02 also w/ 52K miles............FORD IS LAME, unless its a powerstroke.....Ford if your reading this....Please bring European models to USA, many people now wanting quality, and good fuel economy out of cars....your Euro-Spec models have all that and some....its a shame that Ford is still stuck on the bigger the better thinking and it needs to start thinking what they are doing in other parts of the world...because its obviously working for them, and the USA market is doing piss poor....WAKE UP FORD...ok now i am done with the Ford bashing

If they bring that car to the USA looking like the rendering I think they'll be amazed how well it will do in terms of sales, especially if it is priced competitively.

They even have an inline-5 turbo Focus there...add 4wd (and an RS Cosworth badge) and I would be driving that instead of my STi.
