I have a GC RS so 205 55 16 would be my size. Hoping to keep it around or under 450 for a set. I nice performance tire for the road, but also handles and lasts on gravel. I do a lot of outdoor activities that take me through some mountain trails. Any suggestions for a nice durable tire? I have winter tires already. Is a Pirelli PZero Nero M&S a good tire? I have always been a fan of Pirelli but want your opinions. Oh yeah I would probably be ordering from TireRack.

I lived in Salmon for six years. a long time ago. Have you been getting some decent snow this winter?

This is going to be an interesting post to watch. The "summer" Kumho MXs I drive would be a terrible choice. Great for pavement, but the near R compound is torn to sheds by gravel, especially the crushed shale that gets used on some Idaho roads.

I don't think the Pirellis may fare much better. I wonder if some sort of hard big block tread is the answer?

Here's a starter: Silverstone S525. It's a rally tire, and not scarey expensive. I have no experience with this myself, but I've read some good stuff on it. Makes noise and some like it for gravel and pavement.

Strangely enough, the better rally tires for gravel have wear issues if driven at high speeds or long miles on pavement.
