the basemaps are poo. Get it tuned. They run pig rich and are designed for 93 octane. My AFR dipped into the 9's on the stock stage 2 basemap.

the number of abc turns open depends on your car, each is different. Some can run without it, some need it opened up 5-7 turns for example.
Just drive gently until you get it tuned or you tune it yourself, epsecially if you are getting det on the stock stage 2 map. If you're not running at least 93 octane for starters you need to remove some timing.
Have you done any logging? Remember the UTEC is not really a set and forget like the AP or ECUTEK. So after loading the basemap, close the abc fully, then do some logged runs (using logger #1) and see what your numbers are like. The boost map needs to be tuned for starters then work from there.
So in summary, dont "got on the throttle pretty hard in 1st gear" until you're sure what the UTEC is doing! i.e. datalogg.
