Just got one of the newer turboxs tuner-bosch's and Im a little confused on how to hook it up to the utec and the utec up to a computer or vise-versa. The tuner only has 1 serial port which apperently is supposed to be used to hook it up to the UTEC. So what do I use to hook the tuner up to my labtop??

It came with an adapter peice for what looks like a phone cable to serial cable transfer but the tuner has no "jack" for the phone cable and only 1 serial port that is being used to connect to the utec???

Anybody got any experience with the new Tuner-Bosch's??? Thanks
EDIT : Found problem, see reply below. Pics tommorow.

So here is what happend...
Here is how I recieved the tuner, As you can see the cut out for the plug-ins is on the side of the tuner.

When you remove the cover it reviels the phone jack and DC power plug. (that were previously hidden because the cover was made incorrectly)

I tried reversing the cover and this is what happend....No worky

Hopefully there wasnt a batch of these that went out. Lucky for them Im not in a big hurry to have mine installed and working... I also havent tried flipping the cover to see if that fixes the problem, not sure if the other side is the same  ....

I thought the Tuner had 2 serial ports?

http://www.turboxs.com/downloads/TunaUserManual_1v1.pdf

page 6 shows 2 serial ports, one for UTEC and one for PC.

Connect the rear serial port to the UTEC and plug your laptop into the front serial port.

so did I. Only 1 on the back though. They have updated the tuner-bosch and I hope they didnt made it not capable of connecting to the utec!!!!!

So you dont have a serial port on the front ? So what's in that space?

nope. they made some changes and put it in the back. the new tuner-bosch is also half the size of the old one and really only has 1 serial port. Im way confused. heres what the new one looks like....

Sorry no clue then, only hooked up the old type. There must be a pigtail in the kit to connect to UTEC. Any manuals supplied? Probably not or you wonldn't be asking! I guess you'll have to call TurboXS on Monday unless someone else has this unit, or one of the TurboXS guys sees this post.

yeah, I read the manual and still have no clue. I also called Turboxs and the told me to use the supplied DB9 adapter but even with that it still makes no sence since the tuner doesnt have a "phone type" jack...

HAHA. I found out what has happend. TurboXS themsleves built one of the side covers on the tuner itself making it cover my phone jack (for connecting to a computer) and my dc power plug. Looks like im gonna have to call them and have them send me a new ,properly made, cover and a serial cable as they didnt package that for me either. I will post pics of the exact problem tommorrow.

We apologize for the assembly mistake, but you almost have it corrected. One more flip and you'll be there. Just flip the cover vertically now and the hole will line up correctly.

Also we don't supply a serial cable with the tuner-B any longer.

I have the Tuner that looks like that.. the half sized one. So how does it hook up to the UTEC and then to a computer? I haven't really looked at it yet. It uses a phone jack?

Ya, I figured it out last night. Everything is good. Just assembled wrong.

Infamousdx: If you run a newer labtop that doesnt have a serial port then your gonna need a USB-Serial port adapter and then use the supplied serial port-phone jack adapter from turbo xs, then you plug the phone jack into the side of the tuner. You hook the tuner up to the utec via serial cable from the back of the tuner to the UTEC.

Oh ok... cool. Yea I have a serial>usb adapater. I'm with ride5000 and am an old school "Tuna" user when they were huge and had 1 serial out back and 1 in front. I guess this works too. Thanks for the info.
