Quick question guys -

Would a 19x8" rim with a +35mm offset and 225/35/19 tires rub on my 02 WRX @ stock height?

Thanks for your help :)

If my calculations are correct, the wheel will extend about 4cm more outward and the inner clearance should be about the same.

You lose a bit of strut clearance but are 37mm wider. Your tire is also taller.

Don't worry, with that wheel/tire choice he isn't planning on going fast. He just wants to be able to park out front of the Arby's and pop his hood while his boyz gather round and check out his whip.

why is it that people would want to buy an rim with an offset of +35 when our recommended offset is 53? that is almost half the offset recommended. That does answer your question? or maybe you can answer mine instead?

Because somebody is pulling them off his Jetta and selling them to me at 1/4 of MSRP...

...and +53 is not the recommended offset on an 8" wide wheel on a WRX...

...and offsets are not spoken of as a fraction or percentage - it would be 18mm off of +53.

/me wonders what the 8" wide 05+ STI wheel offset it.

I'll sticky this for a little bit, then move it to "FAQ/Threads of Note"

Please people, do not just quote random specs- offset is directly related to rim width- you can certainly use a +55 6.5" wide rim on most late model Subarus, but you cannot use a +55 8" wide rim! Offset Nirvana is within a few millimeters of:

Width .... Offset

6.5" ....... +53 to +55
7.0" ....... +50 to +53
7.5" ....... +47 to +50
8.0" ....... +43 to +47

Anything within sighting distance of these ranges is happiness for your wheel bearings. I reserve the right to be corrected on the ranges, but they are about 95% accurate .

why the /thread comment, isn't this your thread?

and uncle scotty is right, the offset is rather low.

but if you really enjoy ruining one of the few blaze yellows left i guess we can't stop you.

the wheel/tire will either be poking out of the fender or damn close. But if you hang out with VW guys you may like that look.

<---sheds a tear for another lost Blaze Yellow. hopefully this is one of the Autos.

I understand the offset is low - that's why I asked for advice on fitment - not smart ass comments - as I should have expected from nasioc.

and I don't think wanting a spare set of show rims is really ruining anything. I can throw my 16's back on when I want to go fast.

and it's a manual

There are posts every single day on here asking if a +35mm will fit on a wrx.

the reason you got a smart ass comment is b/c this topic is covered all day everyday.

this isn't one of those topics buried in someother thread where it is impossible to find in a search.

and what size are your 16's?

i guess we are just two different type of people and there is no harm done in you want to do something different.

hopefully my comments have been of some help if you can read through the smartassidness.

I appreciate that you've been at least reasonable and respectful in your comments.

I tried searching, but could not get anything to come up. "+35" and "35" don't work, and "35mm" did not come up with any threads with people using an 8" wheel. Maybe I'm missing something in my search, but that's why I came to the rest of the community for help - hoping somebody would respectfully point me in the right direction.

I wanted to try the 19's because my 18's looked a little small still under the big fenderwells.

The 16's are 16x7's wrapped in 205/55/16's.
