View Full Version : SSR Comps or Pros
ihavebettersound 03-12-2006, 09:48 PM Which of the two would look better on a black suby? I picked up a set of Comps(anthracite w/ polished lip) and put them on my car, but I'm now just seeing the professors (black) and they look amazing. Kinda wishing I bought them instead.
gregr01 03-13-2006, 12:18 AM Comps = light
Professors = heavy (er)
You chose wisely, rejoice in selecting function over form.
Picard 03-13-2006, 12:27 AM It depends what kind of look you're going for. I think the Comps make the car look more sporty. The Profs make it look more pimp--especially in the black. I prefer the Comps.
ripvw 03-13-2006, 05:02 AM Comps = light 18x8 ET51 @ 14.6 lbs
Professors = heavy (er) 18x8 ET49 @ 21.6 lbs
You chose wisely, rejoice in selecting function over form.the Comps have a better offset, and that 7 lbs. difference in static weight translates to more than 10 lbs. per corner when you add in the rotational advantage.
very wise indeed... :cool:
Sylon 03-13-2006, 05:40 AM I think the Comps look GREAT! I was thinking about those, but everytime I saw the price, my hopes were shot down :(

ihavebettersound 03-13-2006, 11:42 AM Thanks guys!! I was looking at the weight of the wheels when I bought them. They do seem very light when comparing them to the Professors. Now they don't seem as bad. And I just washed my car. They do look good!

ihavebettersound 03-13-2006, 12:23 PM They are 17's.

Picard 03-13-2006, 12:34 PM Oooh! Very nice! Where did you buy them from?
ihavebettersound 03-13-2006, 12:51 PM I ordered them with the tires mounted and balanced from TireRack. I think the total came to $2000! :eek:
dingobite 03-13-2006, 06:51 PM Is tirerack the only place that sells these SSr's ? Id love to get some in gold im problably going to end up with some 57pro Gramlights instead.
ihavebettersound 03-13-2006, 07:28 PM I'm sure there are other vendors that sell SSR's, but can't think of any off the top of my head. If I recall, they had the best price, with the tires I wanted, and like I said, mounted and balanced.

they're one of the few places that have any Comps left - 16" and 18". New Comps on the way, some good deals on remaining inventory - look at the GT2's as well
gruppe-s may be worth checking out for SSR's as well

all the 17's at tirerack are gone. :(
I emailed tirerack and they weren't forthright in telling me when new 17 SSR comps will come in; they just pointed me to their current inventory. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

There's nothing available in 17" 5x114.3 bolt pattern :( .
dingobite 03-14-2006, 01:39 AM Gruppe-s cant get them they also marked up the same rims in the group buy.
Not sure if my order monday went through would be nice if they cancelled do to stock for, i just cant go in dept like i tried to. :rolleyes:
Oh you might want to order 5 rims tirerack has some type of special stock or something and i dont think tannabe will match colors or something to the originals if you bust one if they do redo the GT2.
