TravisSTi 03-14-2006, 05:00 PM There is a post on the EM&T forum saying what you have to do to get some codes to clear. I think doing those would help getting the ready codes apparently you have to drive a while to get them.

fizzak 03-14-2006, 05:09 PM Uhh, what do you mean we don't have a sniffer? What do you think that probe is they stick in the tail pipe at the emissions station?
wowthatisrandom 03-14-2006, 05:26 PM Uhh, what do you mean we don't have a sniffer? What do you think that probe is they stick in the tail pipe at the emissions station?
they dont do that in missouri they hook up a sensor to ur gas cap...
then they plug in a OBII scanner and thats it.
they no longer pu that on the tail pipe
fizzak 03-14-2006, 05:29 PM Your right, my bad. Just confirmed this with a buddy, the probe is for pre-1996 models.
wowthatisrandom 03-14-2006, 05:33 PM thanks lol since i was there 30 min ago
subeforlife2002 03-14-2006, 05:35 PM Do you have a check engine light going off? Or is it not through the full drive cycle for the light to pop up yet.
wowthatisrandom 03-14-2006, 05:36 PM i got no CEL so i would assume it hasnt gone thru the full cycle yet
subeforlife2002 03-14-2006, 10:36 PM Any luck so far wowthatisrandom?
wowthatisrandom 03-14-2006, 10:46 PM so far ive gotten 2 suggestions
1. register my car in Wisconsin since i go to school there.
or
2. go back to stock
neither which i am happy about
subeforlife2002 03-14-2006, 10:53 PM I was also going to say register it under wisconsin. How many miles have you put on the car since you cleared the codes? When I was having check engine and I cleared it the first time I put 500 miles on the car ( most highway ) until the light came on. The other night after we put my clutch and flywheel on it only took 6 miles till the light came on. I just pulled my codes tonight and I have misfire in cylinder 1-4 and a P0420 code with is catyltic converter effiency, but I don't have a cat in any of my exhaust or header. So I'm figuring its my 02 sensors. I am running a very similar setup as you also ( not saying its your 02's just saying I'm in the same boat)
wowthatisrandom 03-14-2006, 11:36 PM ya before i had the stage 4 i got the p0420 all the time and afterwards i get the misfire codes occasionally so sounds simliar, i reset my ecu b4 i left wisconsin last friday so its been close to 500 miles b4 i tested it
subeforlife2002 03-14-2006, 11:47 PM Sorry I can't help you out at all. Did you do anything to fix the P0429 code or you just keep clearing it?
wowthatisrandom 03-14-2006, 11:48 PM i have a scan gauge so i just cleared it but the utec can disable the light so u can use that its in parameters/user constants
dvang 03-15-2006, 12:12 AM u keep getting the "not ready" because you keep resetting the ECU.
u want to pass the OBD2 test?
you need to drive a bit b4 the ecu gets into ready mode, some say 50-100 miles start and restart car. just because you dont see a CEL because the utec disables it doesnt mean its not there.
easiast way to pass in your situation accessport or go back to stock a bit .
remove utec
reinstall stock injectors
try doing the mech CEL fix for the 02 sensors if its still going off
hopefully your upipe has the egt probe plugged in.
remove BOV
subeforlife2002 03-15-2006, 06:01 PM Just talked to Jorge from P&L motorsports in franklin park. Seems to be that our Utec systems don't work well with big injectors. If I understand correctly it seems that our utec's can't fully control larger injectors like the AP can. Which will throw a misfire code like I have on all four cylinders!! Maybe switching from you Utec to AP isn't a bad idea. I am thinking about it. :(
