I just disabled the CEL in the UTEC parameters. My question is, if the CEL will still flash when knock is detected?

Gethin 03-15-2006, 09:04 PM yes it will still flash if it detects knock but you wont get any CEL data AT ALL from the stock ECU....... gaby 03-15-2006, 09:24 PM Thanks. I disabled it because I'm still fighting with the ramdom misfires. OMEGA SUPREME 03-20-2006, 06:51 PM It will come up trust me lol High octane cures all!!!!!! hippy 03-20-2006, 07:48 PM yes it will still flash if it detects knock but you wont get any CEL data AT ALL from the stock ECU....... I don't think the but part is correct. The light is just disabled, that doesn't mean your ecu won't still have ce codes in it. At least that's what I thought? peace tmarcel 03-20-2006, 07:51 PM I don't think the but part is correct. The light is just disabled, that doesn't mean your ecu won't still have ce codes in it. Gethin 03-20-2006, 11:12 PM just to clarify, the stock ECU won't be capable of flashing the CEL light if u disable it with the UTEC, but the code will be stored for retrieval with a OBD2 scanner. e.g. if the stock ECU detects a misfire, the code will be stored but it won't flash the CEL. gaby 03-21-2006, 01:06 AM Correct I ran my aggresive map last night(it was f)&*cold) and it dectected knock(cel flashed). AaronWRX 03-23-2006, 10:39 AM I never reccomend that people disable the CEL light. There is no reason why you can't have a Utec and no CEL codes. Let the CEL do it's job and let you know when you have something wrong. tmarcel 03-23-2006, 11:34 AM I never reccomend that people disable the CEL light. There are many people that have habitual misfires with the ECU/UTEC combo. I know the argument too...if your fuel map is tuned well etc you won't have them. I don't see that being true though. Just my 3 pennies! AaronWRX 03-23-2006, 11:46 AM I'll agree with that but also disagree at the same time. There are many people that have habitual misfires with the ECU/UTEC combo. I got pretty familiar with those codes when I was tinkering with my blowthrough setup too. ;) ride5000 03-23-2006, 12:52 PM p0301 p0302 p0303 and p0304? Other than that, get rid of the UTEC LOL! gaby 03-23-2006, 04:02 PM I'll try the open ecu reflash later. Know I have the CEL diable " I really love my UTEC". |
