I saw a Solstice the other day on the road. looked like a very cool car!

yeah, I mean, I'd much rather own a miata (or MX-5, whatever they are calling it these days), but in person, the Solstice isn't too bad looking.

I'd definitely consider this car if I knew how soon it was going to be available and how much they want for it (and how much over sticker it will be).

Nice.... chances are they'll dump this on the Sky.... I love the looks of that car, but chances are I won't fit in it :(

Not the Direct Injection.... at least I don't remember reading about it.

Yes it had DI then too, didn't want to wtlw. The same motor is in the Opel GT (which is the Opel version of the Saturn Sky) so probably if they are clever but who knows.

THis is WTLW, but repeating it isn't a bad thing. As long as it is of a high-quality engine, this is a very good thing.

Oh yea... I don't recall if GM ever said what kind of tranny this new engine is getting? I HOPE it's a 6-speed.... but for cost-cutting reasons, I am expecting a 5-speed.

Solstice GXP will be available with both a five-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmission.

Exactly....this car is packing some serious technology...now put it into the better looking car...(Saturn Sky :lol: ) (plus this car should be around the $25k price point)


GM claims the GXP is capable of sub-5.5-second 0-to-60-mph sprints with either transmission.

It uses direct injection, dual-cam phasing and a twin-scroll turbocharger to make up to 130 hp per liter.

An STi should beat it, but a regular WRX sure as hell won't... atleast not by much.
Even if it is portly for a roadster, it still weighs less than a WRX, and with quite a bit more power.

If the Sky definitely gets the same engine option as the GXP... I'll be buying a Sky. Both look pretty cool, but the Sky is better.

I have heard that for the GXP, GM has tightened the car up quite a bit. It could be quite a weekend Club Racer.

There were rumors a few months ago that suppliers had leaked information about a coupe Solstice that would be specifically marketed to the weekend racing set and set up for a specific scca class.

There were renderings of it a few months ago.

Those weren't renderings, but what GM showed at SEMA this year.

when i gassed up earlier today, a solstice pulled up to the pump behind me. it didn't look bad at all, although it looked weird with the top up. i still rather have a saturn sky.
