Does anyone here happen to know anyone who recently bought a silver 05 STI from Lyberger's???? Reason I ask is that STI had a TBE and was flashed to stage 2. From others I've talked to on the forum they said it spells bad news for the guy who bought it. Reason being is the TBE was the catless version and they had to take it off according to ALASKA law for them to sell it. Needless to say they put on a stock TBE and left the car in stage 2 not knowing they need to flash it back to normal. I just don't want the person owning this car to have problems then upon taking it to Subaru for warranty and they see it's been flashed for stage 2 and telling him his warranty is no longer good. The person who owns this would not be aware of this untill he takes it in and would be getting screwed from all angles.

speaking of that STi... me and Sam (shortfuse) took a look at it.. we noticed about the turbo back.. all the heatshields were gone around the turbo... also the exhaust it had prior generated so much heat that it left a yellow/black residue on the rear bumper..also it had damage on the bumper along with the BBS wheels/rims being completly hurt because it had bad grind damage from someone riding up on the curve.. i felt sorry for the car.. it was no where worth the amount they wanted.. usually lyberger has good quality automobiles..but i was dissapointed in that STi

-we did not know of the engine managment situation.. were probably would of gone over the car with a fine tooth cone if i decided to get one however i wasent satisfied with the cars condition along with how much they wanted for it to even be interested... however i do love the STi.. im still waiting on Hank to give me a ride so i can decide upon whether or not i like the Evo or STi more in terms of what " I " like not what others feel..

LOL yep! that is definetly the one! The rims were totally screwed from what I think looks alot like a carwash actually cause I saw it while it was lifted and the inside of the rims share the same attribute as the outside. Lol the bumper was cooked too. If Hank doesn't have time perhaps I can give you a ride in my STI to help you make that decision. That STI at lybergers has CANCER lol or alot of work that needs to happen for what they are wanting. I know it has new brakes and rotors though and when it came to the shop it never had the heat shield meaning it was left behind in oregon where the modification was done.

I remember looking at a silver STi at Lybergers back in may 05... would be weird if it was the same one... I don't recall the condition of the rims but I remember seeing the bumper was badly scrapped on the bottom edge from curb rash. The guy wanted way to much for a STi with that many miles and that condition... which is why the wife is now driving a 2005 LGT :D

i know some of the salesmen there and they had to replace the tires and the uppipe and downpipe cause it was catless. When i saw it there it was in bad shape. two of the rims had bad curb damage. Yeah i didn't know about the engine managment. how long ago did it sell?

i doubt they put in a catted uppipe unless they are very dumb. stage two on the stock exhaust would only hurt one thing, the cats, so no worry. if it comes into work with smoked cats i'll know whats up, thanks :D

I don't think they catted the uppipes lol They just ordered plain old stock STI exhaust and put it back on. I was gonna buy it the way it was and fix the rims/brakes/rotors but they wanted wayyyyyyyyy to much lol and they couldn't sell it to me in the end cause alaska law states the vehicle must have cats yada yada all that good stuff. Cool cool though was just trying to give the heads up and if you see this one come in it will be lacking a heat shield as well :)

judging by most wrx's that come in, there must be a large pile of heat shields somewhere in anchorage...

suabru should open some kind of recycling thing for all of us to turn in our heatshields.. from how many we probably have all taken off, combined together could maybe be enough metal to make another subaru
