View Full Version : Need up pipe instal
f3rr3t 03-16-2006, 06:42 PM I hate ppl working on my car but I have no time to do this. I have had my Helix flex (up pipe) sitting in my garage for 6 months now. On top of that I also need my EGT sensor hooked up at the same time.
Looking to pay someone to do this for me. I would love to hang out and help but I would have to drop it off and go back to work...I know not very firendly in the spirt of nasioc but like I said I have no time.
Please pm me your price. I will also drop off a bottle/case of whatever you want so you don't get dehydrated working on it, safety 1st
Thnx
Thamen

if all ur heatshields are removed Sam could "maybe" do it in the 30min time limit however..but dnt expect him to rush if u want the job done right..
00Maddog 03-17-2006, 04:48 AM i charge $50, let me know if you want it done.
GrinderAK 03-17-2006, 04:50 AM ^^ that $50 is worth it, trust me ^^

I'll have $50 and a gutted stocker soon (maybe by this weekend) It still has a few small cat fragments becouse I used a #3 flathead screwdriver and hammer.
Any final cleanup recomendations?

That's not a maybe. He claims he can do it from start to finish and done properly. I'm skeptical now that he's slightly handicapped.
$50 is a good deal. I'd jump on that.

Need Money 03-17-2006, 05:27 AM LOL I remember when we were all there when he attempted the "30 minute" uppipe install. 30 minute start to finish NO WAY. 30 minutes with the heatshields already off and the car being cool. Anyways, $50 to jerry is very well spent.
00Maddog 03-17-2006, 10:43 PM i would attempt the 30 minute challenge, but I would need my lift, my air tools, and no stripped studs/bolts to deal with. three things i don't expect to happen in my garage lol. so no 30 min promises;)
edo2000 03-17-2006, 11:15 PM ... Anyways, $50 to jerry is very well spent. I second that comment. I would have made about $5/hour if I did my UP install for that. And then I had to buy bandages. I'm NEVER taking it off the car.

yeah, well, i charge -50$. i pay the customer to come to me. hahaha, naw, price varies from time to time but mostly i charge about 50-70. depends if i have to modify the upipe in anyway. like some of those ebay upipes require modifictaion to fit properly. but me and jerry pretty much do that same stuff. doesnt matter to me whom you pick to do it.hope it goes well for you.

I'd love to get this thing install worthy tho. An actual power tool would be awsome.
xplcitcustmz 03-19-2006, 12:21 AM Jerry, you need to post pics of the tools you used to gut the downpipe, haha, id be willing to bet if a cop pulled you over and found them he would think you enjoy popping open trunks for a living.
As far as the 30 minute downpipe install, probably could happen with a lift and all tools in place, a cold engine, and no heat shields.
AK_2002_WRX 03-19-2006, 01:01 AM what did you use to protect yourself from the Catalytic converter stuff?
02redwagone 03-19-2006, 01:51 AM I had a 3 gallon plastic bucket and periodically circulated water through.
shortfuseWRX 03-19-2006, 06:40 AM thats exactly the uppipe i was talking about!!!!!! a hunk of crap if you ask me. the flex leaks. the gaskets dont fit properly. and overall fit is crap. the ones i had to deal with i had to grind the studds down to make them fit. as for the cat dust i just bear with it and pull my shirt up over my mouth and nose lol.

That's why I never installed mine. I bought it on ebay for 60 bucks, and now it's a nice paper weight, but nothing more. I wish that I had used this site earlier, but I just wasn't thinking. ohh well. Live and Learn
