04RCSTI 03-16-2006, 10:12 PM thats beautifull, but why do it to an elise...they shouldve gotn an exige for it....
teamxmehow 03-16-2006, 10:20 PM wow that i incredible
Need BB 03-16-2006, 10:55 PM Well still narrow tires so it is not any better on the track.
ArcticSun 03-16-2006, 10:56 PM Sort of makes it look more super-carish
CirrusWRX 03-16-2006, 11:02 PM I jism on that automobile.
BigElm 03-16-2006, 11:06 PM Well still narrow tires so it is not any better on the track.
pudnana 03-16-2006, 11:06 PM Get rid of that Gay roof scoop and its sweet
XanTium 03-16-2006, 11:10 PM Get rid of that Gay roof scoop and its sweet
It looks pretty fuctional, ram-air intake like a mclaren f1 or ultima gtr. Although it does look like it was installed by icy hot stuntaz.
quentinberg007 03-16-2006, 11:24 PM
Agreed! Those rear tires are ****ing meaty! This car is tiny. That is a lot of rubber under there.

coolbluelb 03-16-2006, 11:55 PM I did not realize the Batmobile could have sex with a praying mantis...
Rapid_Roo 03-17-2006, 12:24 AM there was a post a while back with an Elise with a wide body kit made of Carbon Fiber. I think that one looked better.
looks nice though :)
jpsimon 03-17-2006, 12:27 AM holy ****, this looks amazing!!!!!!!!
AudiTTkiller 03-17-2006, 12:43 AM absolutely gorgeous- except for the retarded vader front lip
FritoBandito 03-17-2006, 12:45 AM thats beautifull, but why do it to an elise...they shouldve gotn an exige for it....
that is an exige
Timmysubie 03-17-2006, 01:14 AM Thats batman in there right?
V8This 03-17-2006, 01:40 AM that is an exige
Yup! Look at the rear over the engine. It has a hatch type back that can't really be viewed out of unlike the Elise having a window and a sort of MR-2 rear end.
FromageTheDog 03-17-2006, 01:54 AM Holy crap. I bet if you saw that car from above, it would be a perfect square...
Doesn't look bad, but I'd rather have one without the kit.
kkam030 03-17-2006, 03:38 AM yea i guess id take one.
jam69007 03-17-2006, 04:53 AM skeet skeet skeet!
Snitt 03-17-2006, 09:58 AM I'd rock that car as-is. :)
DGoReck 03-17-2006, 10:12 AM I'll take one please. That's sweet looking.
brandon 03-17-2006, 10:21 AM Awful and cheap looking is all I can see, but to each thier own. More importantly, I'd bet good money that with the same power this body kit would slow the car down around a track. The BIGGEST improvement of the Exige over the Elise is aerodynamics, which I think Lotus has just a touch of experience with.
As for the tires, those on both the Elise and Exige were specially developed for the car. If anything wider was going to make an improvement to track times, it would have been on the car in the first place. You don't specially develop tires (for a PURE performance car) in a size that's too small.
Beaverboy 03-17-2006, 11:56 AM I think you'd need a mullet to drive that properly. Looks like someone started with a Fiero.
How does one get into the car? Levitation? :p
I'm not feeling the hood scoop...although if it is actually a functional induction system, I may reconsider.
The front lip does nothing for me.
And the side skirts look like they're made out of 1x8 fiberboard.
stidailydriver 03-17-2006, 05:45 PM How does one get into the car? Levitation? :p
no no, twinkle your nose. They are a ***** to get into, at least for a 6'2" 190lb person.
rockcas 03-17-2006, 05:47 PM I spooged in my pants
PinnacleChronos 03-17-2006, 05:49 PM Well still narrow tires so it is not any better on the track.
 you gotta get your eyes checked unless you like running 17x15's or something.
That car is HOT.
blubaru703 03-17-2006, 05:52 PM makes the normal ones look dull.
RBelcher00 03-17-2006, 06:29 PM Amazing. But maybe delete the top intake and the Batman wings on the front spoiler sides. Other than that...
RBelcher00 03-17-2006, 06:30 PM I think you'd need a mullet to drive that properly. Looks like someone started with a Fiero.
I don't understand.
StealthWRX 03-17-2006, 06:30 PM thats hot. anyone else notice the lance for the air jack hookup ;)
Rapid_Roo 03-17-2006, 06:32 PM thats hot. anyone else notice the lance for the air jack hookup ;)
I thought it was the kill switch
digitalboy40 03-17-2006, 06:42 PM why not just special order one from Lotus (http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2005-Lotus-Sport-Exige.htm) themselves. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/digitalboy40/Cars/2005-Lotus-Sport-Exige-FA-1024x768.jpg :D
InvertedB 03-17-2006, 06:55 PM Such a hot car, I'd love to see that thing with the targa top actually off, it would look like a mini-Lambo.
scby rex 03-17-2006, 06:55 PM the biggest difference in the elise and exige is the engine... competley different. The regular elise has a celics gt-s motor the exige has a supercharged k24 honda the only tire option for the two is the advan neova and the a048, one for street and one for track. of course youcan get them in different sizes though. Since the elise comes with huge 2pots in the front and sliding singles in the rear its safe to say since this one has ap 6 pots its no slouch in the engine department.
nKoan 03-17-2006, 06:55 PM If the roof scoop is functional (which it looks like) then I'm all for it. If not, then f' it.

They both have toyota engines, there was a special edition supercharged exige, but it was still a toyota engine. Before the Elise was federalized an importer was bringing them into the US with honda engines, but that was a custom job.
Golfa 03-17-2006, 09:25 PM one of most beautiful cars ive ever seen
i cant stop staring at it

Its true that the tires were developed for the car.

This is not a true statement. The car still is a production vehicle. If you noticed the standard elise comes with small wheels/tires i think fronts are 16x5.5 or something. People run wider wheels all the time, the norm that i have seen are 16x7 front 17x8 rear (which are wider then the standard sport/track pack for the elise/exige)

I disagree and stand by my statement. Lotus chose the tire sizes they did for the compound which was available for the road. Many tire sizes were tested and evaluated before a final decision was made. In fact, I'm almost certain there was a "final hour" change to downsize the the width of the front tires because it improved the Elise's balance. People do run wider tires at the track and will get better track times, but there are two reasons for this:
a) The tires will be a much softer compond. Softer compounds wear significantly faster (than harder ones), so you run wider tires so they last longer. Softer tires also heat up more, so you run more width to keep them cooler. Both of these happen over longer races, and would not affect how most people drive.
b) Most people think wider is just better, so they run as wide as they can regardless of how it affects the cars handling.
I probably read the same boards as you (Elisetalk and Puresportscar), and haven't read anything to contradict my statements. Running wider tires than standard (in the same compound) will not improve lap times in general. Running wider tires in softer compounds MAY improve lap times, but only if the tires are overheating and/or the (compound) change affects the balance. Even so, the wheel sizes you mentioned are only slightly larger than stock anyway, so we're not talking MUCH wider unlike the poster I was referring too.
Lotus knows what they are doing and have far more money/time/knowledge (for the R&D of tire selection) than all but the most wealthy privateers. If the designers/engineers had found that a wider selection made the car handle better, it would have been on there in the first place. It's not like it was a money problem, because when tires are being specifically developed anyway, a slight increase in size would have negligible cost impact.
Really wide street tires on an Elise would be a complete waste. The car is far too light to take advantage of them. If anything the added unsprung weight would upset the suspension. This is why the softer compound "sport package" tires are only slightly larger in the front only. Just enough to keep the proper balance of the car, while actually shaving extra weight off the corners.
BTW, I'm a Lotus owner too (<- <-) and it's always nice to chat with other owners on non-Lotus boards. Unfortunately it will be a few years before I can afford an Elise, so of you I am quite jealous!
Evil XT 03-18-2006, 03:28 PM Woah Dude!
mykrrrr 03-19-2006, 10:14 AM Awesome...needs a big CF wing out back though. :p
Beaverboy 03-20-2006, 03:37 PM I don't understand.
It looks like the POS ferrari replicas that people build out of Pontiac Fieros:

Do you see those lines where the rear fender flares were slapped on??

If you still think that looks good.. this guy wants to take you for a ride in his rare Ferrari F40:

Apparently matching the body lines isn't much of a concern. Nice fitment to the roof there.
The rest of the kit is ok, but you won't catch me driving it.
BigClunke 03-20-2006, 10:02 PM I think you guys got it wrong. The only people that I have ever seen in fiero's have pocket protectors, not mullets. Mullets like their v8's and rwd to impress the chicks doing burn outs in front of the local dairy queen. Geeks like the tron-like stylings of the fiero.
on a more serious note, I am now considering starting a cocaine cartel so that I may afford a lotus before graduating college next year. would anyone like a job as a coke mule?
That car is hot but the scoop on the top is out of place, I don't like that one bit.
RaDZio 03-20-2006, 10:15 PM Im not 100% on this, but some lines dont seem to match...
poor photoshop job:lol:

everytime I see that, it just makes me sad that they would skimp out on getting it right :(
Homemade WRX 03-21-2006, 12:50 AM if it means more rubber under an elise allowing for more power, than I like it...otherwise it's a waste of a well balanced car
lunatic meth 03-21-2006, 01:01 AM it looks nice minus the front lip wings and ****ty roof scoop (would've been better if they had matched it up correctly with the car.)
Stonebaru 03-21-2006, 11:37 AM "it looks nice minus the front lip wings, ****ty roof scoop, and widebody kit"
fixed
;)
