All,
I have a 2005 STi with ~ 13K miles on it. Had a Cobb Stage II installed maybe 100 miles ago.

During a 45 minute drive up the freeway, at normal speeds in traffic (without cruise on), All of the sudden it goes check engine, and the cruise indicator starts blinking. Killed the car and restarted, just in case, and the same issue still remained.

Both the check engine indicator and the cruise light were back off (and cruise was operational) later that evening on the way home.

This was 3/4 of the way thru a tank of gas, so I doubt that was an issue. Any ideas before I start talking to dealers?

I am sure you will get the CEL again..next time use your AP to pull the code, you will then know what the problem was/is.

Strange. My CEL light went on several times after the AP was installed but I cleared it after the third time and it has yet to come back on. And that was 30k miles ago.
What code does it pull up???

well boost creep/fuel cut will throw those two symptoms

usually you need some spirited driving to cost boost creep though...unless it was below 20-30 degrees...you might need to run a different map on your AP

Without the actual code there is nothing anyone hear can help you with. I suggest you pull the code and let us know.

Yeah, it occured to me that I can do that with the accessport after the fact..... I will go learn how to this eve.

Anyone know how long those codes stay resident in memory someplace? or can the accessport only pull em while they are active (and check engine light is on)

you may still be able to get the code..

if i remember correctly, the accessport can look back at historical codes as well.

Did you disconnect the test connectors under the dash?

Boost creep.....strikes again and engine management won't fix it so don't ask. You will have to port your turbo or get a different turbo. Research twice, install once.

But to be sure, do you have a boost gauge??

My fiance had this happen yesterday to her on her way home. I did a quick google search, and while not totally related model wise it might be something to look at.

Possible cause (http://www.mrtrally.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=25635)

She is going by the stealership today to have them take a look, so I will post an update later when I speak w/ her.

Connect your access port and check your map make sure your base map is stage two.Mine just did the same thing a week ago my map was still on stage one the code is probably 0420

I would reset the ecu using the AP.
It will probably go away!
If it comes back reload stage 2 software, try a different stage 2 map..

Also read the trouble code and the codes are in the back of the ap owners book for the AP.
Shouldn't be a big deal.

are you catless?

I had a similar experience. When I pulled the code it said P0230 - Fuel Pump Controller. I had it happen twice and it has not reoccurred. Others have had to replace the fuel pump controller. It is a grey box mounted by your intercooler spray tank. Once you get the code pulled, you'll have a better idea of where the problem lies. Even if your CEL is not currently illuminated, the code should still be stored in the ECU's memory.

I hope this helps.

I had the same problem when i was stage II. It's just boost creep. It sucks but the only way to fix it is get your tuner to tune around it like i did or P&P the turbo.

If it is boost creep you can just port your waste gate a little and it should clear it up, just like everyone else said make sure to pull the code though. If your car is new or still has warranty and you have installed a catless TBE and you take it to the dealership (depending on the dealership) say good bye to the warranty. I would check the problem out myself first and then go from there.

i got the same thing and a diagnostic gave me a code for a fryed o2 sensor, i went to subaru and they were gonna charge me $150 for a new o2sensor so im gonna put on a defouler and hope it fixes it... pull the code and if it gives you the o2 sensor try that.
