I have an 06 wrx and was wondering about what the max hp the stock internals can take. If you avoid any and all detonation, you can get some life out it with a good tune. Not to worry :) They both have forged rods and cranks. As for 400whp, it is all in the tune as long as the "up grade" components hold hands. Just trying to clarify. Sorry for the confusion, they are different in a few ways. The pistons and the heads both have a different shape / volume.
