I was looking at the WorxTuning CAI and was impressed at how they worked out the air flow around the MAF sensor, but I was concerned about how they moved the MAF sesors location further away. I understand distances and such can effect the way the stock ECU is calibrated with the MAF and was wondering if the distance they added would effect how the car runs. Any input?

My input is that ANY intake not verified by a third party to be fine with wideband data is suspect and only to be used with tuning. And I don't trust ANY manufacturer claims as we've seen more than one manufacturer get caught.

In my opinion, you can "the internal profile of the OEM air box sensor mounting tube" until you're blue in the face, but if you don't have a velocity stack 3" ahead of if like stock, you've messed up. Also, that tight radius bend just before the MAF housing will totally screw the readings. This is one of those intakes that'll make your car run leaner than intended because a large portion of the airflow will be "bunched" toward the outer radius of that bend and won't flow through the middle of the MAF housing like stock. Thus, your MAF reads less air than is really going through.

I was thinking that about the bend as well. I also think moving the MAF that far will definitely require a retune. I was hoping that the MAF housing was close to stock. Has anyone used this and can give some data?

I have had the Worx CAI on my STI for about 6 months now..No driveability problems what so ever.. The MAf housing is identical to stock including the horn on one end, this was the main selling point for me as I did not want to mess with the MAF readings at all. My tuner had no issues while tuning, and there was almost no difference from the stock airbox. I talked with Mike@Worx before I purchased and he said the housing was moved further away to reduce the heat soak effects, and that the distance from the inlet pipe had no negative effect as well.

I was very impressed also with the quality of this CAI, the MAF housing was one of the nicest CNC pieces I have ever seen...

Hope this helps some of you who were wondering about this intake system ;)
