I have seen a few imprezas around with a blank rear. I am not into this idea yet. I am wondering why it is done. The S U B A R U across the rear doesn't really look that great anyway.
Thanks

Just a matter of taste. I thought it does look better removed, and adds to the stealth look. Unknowing folks may miss that small WRX badge before they get embarrassed. Took mine off after a couple days.:)

why not ;), but yeah some people don't like how it looks. they also want to confuse the other people on the road that have never herd a subaru :D

I've also heard people talk about how much easier it is to wax / detail the car without having to work around the lettering and/or badges...

This is the updated JDM WRX. I like it. I think I'm going to break out the blow dryer tomorrow.

Debadged just looks better...

Yeah, I'm proud of my Subaru, but I got sick of people walking around to the tail end and saying "oh, YEAH, this must be the new Subaru!"

Now they work for it!!

Be careful on the debadge... I got dull spots where the letters used to be. Goo-off is good stuff, but always be gentle in everything you do!

Fortunately a local body shop buffed out my problem in 10 minutes and the guy just asked for a twenty to pay the guy who did it (I also thanked him personally and shook his hand... that kind of thing always makes someone's day)... So if you do screw up, it can be fixed ;)

I like it debadged, just the S U B A R U emblem though not the WRX.

debadged my silver wagon so it only says WRX on the rear...

no S U B A R U and no little IMPREZA under the WRX letters... My wagon has the rear bumper cover that has IMPREZA cast in it anyways, so there :D

Also, my 5 star grill ornament is out while I decide on a color for it, so in the mean time my car is truly tough to figure out...

except for the Subaru in the center caps and the IMPREZA on the bumper cover, its a mystery :)

I just used WD40 and dental floss... the WD40 dissolves the glue and makes letter removal easy. I also made sure to wipe excess WD40 off so as not the risk harming the paint...

on my car, you can NOT tell the SUBARU was ever there

I resisted doing it for about 5-6 weeks, 'cause I didn;t think it looked that bad. Then one saturday I was bored, so I took the SUBARU off- it looks so much better now, It's sorta personalized.

While it debadges your car, it badges you as an owner. It tells people (in the know) that you are not one of the great unwashed masses of WRX owners, (there are lots), you are an *enthusiast*. You didn't buy it 'cause it was "cute", you bought it cause it was a very special car.

Yeah, what he said:)

That is the way I am leaning, but there are SO many shades of Blue... I've been thinking that something very close to WR Blue would look good...

I also want to be sure that it kinda stands out from a distance. I mean I want a blue that is much brighter than black, otherwise the work is for nothing ;)

Might pop into a hobby shop this week and find a color... I don't have any blue paint, but I have some fluro-orange road marking paint... that would certainly stand out :)

Yeah right do blue.

That way you'll have a blue oval on your grill.
& dumb ass people will say,
"what kind of FORD ya got there?"

2.0 Guy - I found a color in a local shop that (to my eyes) matches the WR blue perfectly. In bright sunlight it does stand out. From a distance or if it's dark out, though, you can't really tell the badge is blue.

I did my front badge with gold leaf paint. Looks kinda cool- did it mostly 'cause I had some left over.

I took off the S U B A R U. I think the lines of the boot flow much better without all that chintzy plasti-chrome sitting in the middle. I don't mind badges in general, this one just bugged me.

I left the WRX Impreza badge, though. I like it :)

I do want to get the little SUBARU badge from the JDM one.

It just looks smooooooother.

With the badging in the rear it seems very cluttered. In the end it's just personal taste.

Hey 2.0 Guy,

Check the border of your WRX logo on the back of your car. It has a bit of a blue tint to it that hints of the WRB. I think a front logo of this color would keep in line with what is on the car already.

Here is an idea. Has anyone thought of putting one of the swirl "I" logos on the back where the S U B A R U logo is/was? I have been trying to figure out the best way to attach it without it falling off in the hot Southern Calif. sun.

My buddy Monte here in San Diego has the exact same trunk (his car is Silver too) -- debadged with the Subaru sticker next to the keyhole -- it looks GREAT!

I still have the badge on my Blue WRX. It's leased, so I'm a little worried about getting dinged when I give the car back if it doesn't have the badge on the back. Any opinions?

What about sticking the old school multi-colored WRX logo on the trunk?

Surprised I haven't seen that here yet. I've seen a few RS pics with the trunk done that way.

So what is the safest method for removing the badging?

Didn't affect the return of my leased '99RS at all.

Heat gun or hair dryer and dental tape. Take the tape and gentally pull it thru the adhesive and the emblems should come right off. If there is any adhesive left use a little goo gone or bug/tar remover.

Did mine late yesturday. No hair dryer or heat gun. (DUMB) It quickly got colder as it was getting later. I sprayed with 3M adhesive/bug/tar remover and flossed away. What a biyaaatch getting it all off. Finally got it, but peeled some of the clear coat in one spot taking off the stickers. Can't really notice, but I can. Definatly want to heat it up, now all I need is a buff to completly remove any trace of the lettering. Keep in mind, the only way you can see a trace is if you look for it. Spanked a coat of wax afterwards and it looks sharp. The lip on the top part of the trunk stands out more, as well the natural lines in rear part of the car.

I wrestled leaving it on or off. It looks soooo much better off.:)

i have removed the WRX and imprezza badges and left the subaru.
its the european approach. over there most mercedes and bmws
do not have model badges (S500, M5, etc). i like the sleeper look.

I think the weight savings point has convinced me.:D

Ok, the truth is that somebody mentioned the point about cleaning and waxing around the letters, and having personal experience with stubborn dirt around badging on other cars, removal just sounds like a good way to keep the car looking cleaner overall. If you gotta have the badging, get decent stickers. Mine is coming off as soon as I can get around to it.
