Doing my first oil change tomorrow and want advice on raising the car and putting on jack stands. I have a good floor jack. Should I lift in the center, I think there is a beam just behind the engine. Or is it better to lift each side individually at the jack points. It just seems I will munch the sides with the jack if I do that. I guess I can put my old hockey on my jack with a cutout groove to protect the side. but then where is the best spot for jackstands. I ask this because I always had vettes and you could really screw up the fiberglass if you weren't carefull. You always had to open the doors and hood before lifting.

if you are doing just the oil change, you really don't need to raise the car. the oil plug and filter are placed near enough to the front of the car that you don't need to get your whole body under the car. but if you want to get close and personal with the underside of the car while changing the oil, jack it up. ;)
