Hi everybody. Hope to be in the right area.
I own a European spec 02 STI (2.0L 265hp stock) now running with Ecutek, APS SR40, 650cc fuel injectors, Perrin Rails, APS Exhaust etc..
I'm now ready to build a new engine and I was thinking to Cosworth Crate EJ25 and Cosworth heads and keep using the SR40 turbo and 650cc injectors. Is there anyone that have experience with Cosworth stuff for Subaru? What kind of power should I expect out of that assembly?

Thanks for your reply

Define "big mods" and you'll get more assistance. Once you decide on your displacement either the 2.0L or 2.5L forum may provide you more assistance.

The Cosworth stuff is just coming out. I don't know anyone yet who has used their heads--most people are going to build their own block or buy one elsewhere due to the price. If you do move to the 2.5 liter engine you'll need new and larger fuel injectors. The SR40 would be on the small end of turbos on the 2.5L block. In the stock location an FP Green or Red would give you more power and probably better spool up (hard to believe I know).

Go with a rotated mount turbo and the sky's the limit. Most are built around Garrett turbochargers. I prefer the Element Tuning kit, but there are others. www.elementtuning.com

Bigger than GT30R sized turbo and you'll need to do something more with your engine management than just an EcuTek reflash. You'll be maxing out the MAF with those turbos. There are "blow-thru" devices to "fool" the MAF and then there are speed-density-MAP based systems like the Hydra.

Good luck. Read widely on these forums and use the search tool. There is a wealth of information that can be refined by posting. If you want more specific US vendor recommendations send me a private message.

Thank you bboy!
My big mods means installing the 2.5L instead of my 2.0L
My goal is to have a torque engine more on the rally side that for drag racing.
I guess with the SR40 I can achieve that with good reliability, but I stil have to clear my mind on the block choise. For sure a std 2.5 packed with good pistons and rods will be cheaper than buying Cosworth crate engine, but I'm preatty positive with the Cosworth assembly I can sleep at night trusting their assembling capability. I had the chance to see their flyer on Subaru's stuff and they were claiming 10K rpm and 1000 horses ready components all around.
I still don't understand what special heads can really do translated in torque and horse power compared to the stock STI heads.
