View Full Version : Alaska SCCA Auto-x Season
cooparu 03-22-2006, 09:29 PM Out of curiosity, who is thinking of auto-xing this summer? I've heard here and there that some "new" people are thinking about doing it this summer. Are you?
Feel free to ask questions if you've never auto crossed, or tell some stories if you have. And I'm no expert on auto-crossing, but I had a blast at the events I attended last summer.
2006 schedule and stuff:

This is my first poll attempt, I hope I don't fudge it up. :)
Mavrik 03-22-2006, 09:47 PM oops I thought I voted for going to a few events...
AKSubie 03-22-2006, 10:06 PM Yup, I be there.
Getagrip 03-22-2006, 10:13 PM I'll try to make as many as possible
SQUAD_907 03-22-2006, 10:26 PM I'll try to make as many as possible
me too! :disco: the school at the least! better be better than last years!
cooparu 03-22-2006, 11:44 PM While I can see your point about the school last year, I did appreciate the decent amount of driving time. Maybe it was less than previous years, but it was my first.
Driving the event the next day was what made it work for me, putting the elements together on a course.
PS - this is all informal, just trying to get some buzz going. :)
WRX8U82 03-22-2006, 11:49 PM This is a great thread. I plan to go for my first time this year w/ the Evo and all. A couple of guys from my church, who drive green miatas have been calling me out..
I don't know if you know Howard Bone, but he tells me that he is pretty fast and blah blah blah...I look foreword to going and see if I can really drive and none of this straight line junk. Well, don't hold me to that, but I might see what the Evo can do in the 1/4 stock w/ or w/o race gas.
cooparu 03-22-2006, 11:52 PM From what I've seen, evo's are pretty solid even stock. You'll have fun and probably do fairly well.
Howard's the man. He's very fast.
hpracingwrx 03-22-2006, 11:59 PM i dont know if ill make EVERY event but i will try to make most, probably just to watch though
AKSubie 03-23-2006, 01:26 AM ya, Howard is pretty danged fast, looks funny with his micromachine wheels though. LOL James is also really good. (only 2 green miatas on top my head)
stock or modded, Auto-x is a great time, and gets you learning the limits of your car... when it sticks and doesnt..
Wes_FSTGDB 03-23-2006, 02:59 AM I tried it with my Acura TSX and I had a blast. You get to push your car as hard as you want and you'd be surprised at what it can do. I have yet to try it out on the STi though. Should be a good time, I'll try and make as many as I can.

AKLGT 03-23-2006, 03:02 AM gonna try this out for sure. :) already told the boss i was planning to race so he gave me his blessings as long as i'm not scheduled to be anywhere that day.
XR4Tim 03-23-2006, 04:44 AM I want to try and get the Typhoon out there at least once this year.
AKSubie 03-23-2006, 06:24 AM I want to try and get the Typhoon out there at least once this year.
That'd be cool, then we can have a Sy/Ty competiton ;)
XR4Tim 03-23-2006, 06:37 AM That'd be cool, then we can have a Sy/Ty competiton ;)
Heck yeah! I'll probably lose, since my Ty isn't at all set up for autocross, and I've never done it before. But at least I know that I can destroy Dentdude from a stoplight :p
Slatt 03-24-2006, 12:25 AM I'll try to make as many as possible
Damn you! Dentdude and Howard too! :D Just kidding, of course.
I just wanna say that I recommend a full face helmet for first timers, just to hide the idiodic grin that will be on your face the whole day.
tribalwrx 03-24-2006, 01:24 AM or try and hide the silly look on your face when you go off course more than once in the same place, that said i'll be going at it again this summer hopefully more than i did last year.

AKSubie 03-24-2006, 04:10 AM could Always be like pete (one of the Audi guys) and honk at you around the corner as he proceeds to play pacman.
SparkysJDMSpeedWagon 03-24-2006, 03:15 PM could Always be like pete (one of the Audi guys) and honk at you around the corner as he proceeds to play pacman.
HaHa that event was hilarious, between Pete's TT collecting cones and giving his diverter valve a workout, and Paul's old Firebird fishtailing through the entire course. I might be going overseas this summer, but if not, I'll definately make atleast a couple events, especially the school if possible.
