I prefer the sleeper look. The kind of car people will underestimate.

I like it, minimal visual mods for me. Never understood why people change their car to look like a transformer.

I have this issue of SCC and I wasn't impressed with the torque curve on a number of the hotted up WRX's they had in the feature article. The M2 was O.K but it's peak torque didnt come on until 6000rpm, just a tad less at 4500rpm (and there is a torque slump between the two engine speeds..)
It only had ~112LB-FT at 3500rpm where the stock WRX has 125LB-FT.
The one thing the M2 car did have was handling from hell, amazing 60-0 and slalom performance. The best engine seems to have been the Vishnu car which had a VERY impressive torque curve to match the power.. It matched the stock WRX up to 3700rpm where it simply shoots STRAIGHT UP to 198LB-FT at 4700rpm and stays above 165LB-FT all the way to the red line. Power curve just went up and up to 218HP at 6400rpm. Needless to say it had the fastest accel times with 4.5 secs to 60 and a 12.9 quarter mile @ 104.6mph. The only problem with the Vishnu was that it lacked any other 'real' performance upgrades and kept a relatively dismal 125ft 60-0 and 69.7 mph slalom.

Also, FWIW, The SPO Stage II would probably have been the quickest PERIOD if it werent for the fact that a boulder fell on the car during a downhill drive.. The SPO Stage I had the most impressive torque curve, while not being the peakiest, it hit 155LB-FT at only 3200RPM.

M2 was one of the tuners that submitted cars to the SCC WRX shootout. You should pick up this month's SCC to read more about the M2.

my APS stage1 WRX does a 4.5 0-60

which is of course, ridiculous for a 4-door little blue sedan

:)

ahhhhhhhhhh!

oh yeah, keep in mind some/all of those cars in the SCC shootout were on race tires. Hence the astronomically high handling numbers.

I like the M2's look. I bought mine with spoiler option, but seeing the M2s, clean and tidy lines has made me reconsider.

Actually, the tag line is "little, yellow, different", isn't it? For Advil or Nuprin or something...

I was thinking about Bob Dole's blue friend... hehe

What was each car's mods for the scc shoutout. It is my understanding that m2 only had a turbo back and a mbc. If that is so, then there numbers ARE very impressive. I think the other cars had more engine management. Does anyone have the data on this?

Thanks,

Greg

IIRC, M2 also had a boost controller, intercooler upgrade and turbo upgrade. They also reported a re-mapped ECU.

This is my favorite one from the shoot-out. I just drool over it. Looks like a factory hot-rod (ala Ford's SVT or Subaru's STi) and not something from the "Pep-Boy's School of Automotive Design". :P

Has the M2 car undergone some changes since the SCC Shootout? That article was writen some time ago...
