I have purchased some Farenheit super white xenon headlights for my 03 WRX. Ive had this type of bulb before in my Cougar with no problem. But now ive burnt up probably 4 headlight wiring harnesses in the past 4 months. It started with the driver side and i thought i took care of the issue and now it moved over to the passenger side. These bulbs are 12v 100/80W bulbs. Obviously they are getting too hot but i dont understand why this hasnt happend before. THey did originally work just fine for the first 4 months with no problems.

i had a set, even though i am embarrassed to say it. a LONG time ago. high wattage bulbs are not good in subarus. this is the common mistake: i had them in xyz car for years with no problems.
for the most part just because they didnt blow out every once in a while doesnt mean there werent any problems. i had a set of nokya bulbs in my gc for years....when it finally came time to change them i found out, the harness had melted, the reflectors were discolored and the inside of the assembly was stained.

for stock wattage, they are going to be pricey. i used to run polarg vip's they are a nice white/ pruple color, but very useful since they also had a tinge of yellow. i left the world of hyperwhite, and now run yellow lighting all around. i have some mtecs that gave off a nice white light, but there were also high wattage. the thing that sux is that the 02/03 wrxs have a wierd bulb size that most bulb makers do not utilize

I say buy yourself some Silvania Extra Visions or other bulbs you can find here.

Even with a beefier wiring harness installed, it still isn't a good idea to run high wattage bulbs due to the fact the stock housings and reflectors are not designed for it.
