I don't want to jump the gun...or put the cart before the horse...or count the chickens before they're hatched (you get the idea)...but I spoke to Colin late this past week and it seems our October Autocross is tentatively (I hate that word) ON.

If it is a go, it will be at the same location as it has been for the last few months (the parking lot at Kalealoa). THe date has not been set yet, but look for it to be around October 14.

Like I said, this is what I heard from Colin, and although he is in "the know" about this, it is not 100% positive. Just thought I would give you guys a heads up.

Cool Cliff! Strange tho...I met with Colin Friday at about 4:30pm and at that time it was "I dunno, no idea, have not talked to Curtis yet". :confused: How LATE in the week did you talk to him?:lol:

I spoke to Kemper early in the week and he said that Curtis thought we'd be on for our nat'l Guard location. I spoke to Curtis Saturday and he said that on Friday, he'd heard that we'd probably lose our site this month. The saga goes on! We may try for a Saturday at HRP. We need a big turnout to make this work! Hopefully we'll have more information early this week.

Sounds like we could use a road rally event right about now. For those who don't know what a road rally is, it's kinda like a treasure hunt in your car! Speeding is NOT involved. Lots of planning involved, but you don't need any track...requires a navigator & driver and their are NO classes! This is the only event that a GTI can beat a Corvette! Lindsey & Ron have had experiences with these events in Honolulu. Lindsey once told me that the SCCA actually has manuals on how to conduct these. It's like a giant "cruise" type race following a map & clues on how to find the finish line! Typically there's a picnic or something for everyone at the end. However, this kind of event needs a lot of support people...but while not everyone can "compete", all can definitely have fun!

2:30??? when we had the track day we didn't have to leave until after 4 :00 or so, ..... so maybe that could be the case for us!!??

Last I heard, $500 per day not including liability insurance and ambulance services. That day that you guys left at 4pm, did you see the drag race people waiting to get in? I've heard that on Saturday events there is sometimes a little "pressure" to leave by some early arriving drag race crews. We could no doubt get our 4 heats in if we tried, but there would be no time for "fun runs", IMO.

Just got an e-mail from Colin, as some of you may also already have...Hawaii Raceway Park seems out of consideration at this time due to expense and time constraints...they are working on getting the Aloha Stadium parking lot or the deep draft harbor out at Kapolei. We may yet see an October SoloII...stay tuned.

Well, as a member/participant (5yrs) of our SCCA Solo II events, I feel that our present leadership has dropped the proverbial "ball". When the guy went off the freeway in Kahala, it was the prime time to approach the City & State for support. It could have been THE turning point of the SCCA in Hawaii. No guarantees, but it may have put us in a better position than we are now...worse off than 7 months ago when we lost that very choice airfield location. However, the blame, if it can be called blame, should be shouldered by the entire SCCA membership. As members did we attend the open meetings? Did we show support for our board? Did we pressure them to act by our fervor? So here we are now...a roving band of homeless cone-heads wondering where our next slalom fix will come from...it's all LINDSEY'S fault! :mad:

Naw, we don't have to rev that high...we just like the sound of the i-VTEC kicking in at 6000, and that Vvvrrooshh at around 6500, and peaking the 200 horses at 8000. It's no "ppsssttthh" or anything, but keeps us sane and alive every day. :p You know, we all got our own little thing to help us feel alive.

Actually, we (Hondas) look real cool standing still too....had no complaints there. At high speeds? I guess it's harder to see when images get blurry. :D :D
