Isaac 230-5781 Mavrik 03-23-2006, 10:56 PM Sup Isaac... not sure were you can locate those parts here but I would recommend lowering springs + front strut tower support bar + rear sway bar to reduce the body roll. With the help of a friend we installed TEIN springs on my wife's LGT and it has very little body roll now. So thats the place to start. Also putting on 17" rims with a low sidewall will also help. $$$ though. (btw this is Phil, saw you at conti today) edo2000 03-23-2006, 11:58 PM I believe OrionAK has a Perrin rear sway bar for a good price. Check the Alaska For Sale thread. Slatt 03-24-2006, 12:07 AM Handling is a bit like justice. How much can you afford? The most significant upgrade is tires. Get a set of Falken RT-615. Don't even dream of driving these in the winter, but the summer grip will impress you. A 'free' upgrade is an alignment. You want maximum negative camber up front. Not all alignment shops understand the word 'max', but some folks here might have a set of cheapie alignment tools you can borrow. ;) All you really need then is a FLAT concrete floor. This will improve front grip (where it is lacking in a WRX) and balance. The next upgrade is the rear sway bar. Get an adjustable one so you can put it on the weak setting during the winter. Also, you might as well get upgraded rear sway-bar endlinks at the same time. This will not give you more (noticeable) grip where you need it (front) but will improve the balance of the car. Once you have done that and still want more, get a bigger front sway bar and those stiffer lowering springs. This combination will give you grip (on most roads) and responsiveness, and you might be happy at that point. If you still have the itch, it's now time to get a rear strut brace. And it's time to think about other driving enhancements like a short-shifter and shifter bushings. While you're under the car doing that get the motor mount, pitch, and tranny bushings. Maybe you should have done the shifter sooner? These all contribute to faster and easier gear shifts. I'm not gonna mention coil-overs, except to say that you don't need a front upper tower brace till after you've added a front lower brace, coil-overs, and some kind of camber-adjustable front top mount. Yeh, I just received my front upper brace today. :D Getagrip 03-24-2006, 12:43 PM I'm suprised no one mentioned struts. This is very important to making the car change direction quickly. This is why many would change this first when planning to autocross. If you change just struts you still can stay in stock class (no power mods). Getagrip 03-24-2006, 03:33 PM FYI, Conti is a dealer for COBB and PERRIN, both who make good quality suspension components. The prices are great too. Just call and ask for Tim in the Conti parts dept 261-0626. Jake hpracingwrx 03-27-2006, 12:26 AM the front end of a wrx is tight enough, a lot of people suffer from understeer as a result. if you tighten up the rear u will encourage the arse end to react more like rwd in a sense that u will experience more oversteer. negative camber on the front is a good idea, but keep in mind that you will wear through tires more quickly. id say get a coilover kit, rear sway/ endlinks and rear strut. if u really want a rigid frame look into an underframe mounted stabilizer of course this is all IMO |
