Hi all,
I am seriously thinking about replacing my Audi A4 with a new WRX. I was quite amazed at how good the car was during my test drive and it has tons of personality which my A4 is sorely lacking (not to mention the power). Through reading your posts and searching the archives, I see that there have been some people with on going problems with their cars. Can someone that has been here all along in this forum summarize the repeated problems and their resolutions?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I haven't got my WRX yet (hopefully next weekend) but I have been lurking here for more than a year, and I have been in love with the WRX since I lived in Japan way back in 1996.
I think you will find that on the i-club, like AudiWorld or the Vortex, that most people gripe about their problems rather than sing the praises of their cars.
I firmly believe the WRX is the perfect combination of power, balance, durability, and reliability available. That's why I am giving up my beloved Golf.
Cheers and good luck.

(Aside from a very few lemons....)
Most of the WRX problems I've seen or heard of so far seem kinda minor and/or rare: -easily chipped paint
-orange peel paint on the lower areas
-flimsy cupholder (even though I love it)
-frightenly sensitive CEL (lotsa people are doing mods)
-some cases of windshields poorly attached
-grooves/boogers on the rotors
-discoloring on the wheel centercaps
But overall these things pale in comparison to the pleasure of the car and it's value!:D :D :D

I have a WRX and I have started a few problem threads in my time. Being like yourself and coming from a Subaru engolfed country (in my case England). I had to have the WRX. Although I have had problems what I have found is if the dealerships and SOA read from this site and would give feed back I bet the complaints would dwindle. The car ROCKS. Its better than my old 95 turbo'd impreza hands down. It screams to go fast and wants to be pushed. It can take almost anything in its stride. Its a dream come true to own. My miss fortune seems to have been buying it here. SOA seem to have there hands tied when it comes to anyporblems with the car. Maybe because they are playing in a whole new arena now. The WRX is already out sold any current year model 10 fold. And as such its going to have problems. And SOA are having problems with this. They haven`t sold so many units of the same model. Like the alternator issue (thats taken them since 93 to now to recall) they are still having delays in the reimbursement of many customers. Anyway back to the thread in hand.
BUY it. You will love what it does for you. This baby can fly.

Over 5000 miles on mine and haven't been back to the dealer since I bought it. No problems at all. In Colorado (almost) everyone has a Subaru and I have owned 5 different Subies since 1980 along with several Hondas and Toyotas. IMO Subarus are as reliable as Honda or Toyota (which is as reliable as it gets).
