Capt Crunch 04-02-2006, 04:31 PM Are the JDM components (shortblock and heads) used or new?
Gruppe-S 04-03-2006, 03:49 PM They are used. Thanks for asking what should have been originally posted.

Kaymin 05-18-2006, 02:50 AM What if i want a stock V8 with AVCS or the high redline? How much would it cost if you can do it?
poorboy 05-18-2006, 08:17 AM yeah, i was curious about how much it would cost to get the bottom end work done, but leaving the heads stock.
BonesXMahones 05-20-2006, 09:52 PM How else can you run his engine if not equipped with ECU and harness? I'm guessing there is only a standalone option? Also, this most likely isn't inspection friendly is it?

So essentially, you'd just like a stock Ver. 8 motor (8000 RPM redline)? These are fairly difficult to come by but we do get them in from time to time. They usually go for around $4000-$4500.

Well the heads are actually quite difficult to come by. A clean set in good working order will be $2000-3000. We get heads that are missing some parts in more frequently; those usually go for $1000-$1500. The shortblock by itself will be in the neighborhood of $3600.

You can buy the ECU and harness from somewhere else or you can run a standalone with this set-up. We do actually have ECUs that will work with this motor. You'll need to reflash the ECU so that is works on 93 or 91 though.

Geoff

Because this won't use AVCS, you should be able to directly swap it into your car. You'd just attach your accessories, manifolds, and harness to it and go. You should be able to tune it, but I don't know if you'll find a pre-made Accessport map for it (forgive me here, I don't know how AP works, and you might be able to tune it yourself with street tuner).

That's exactly right but I would not recommend tuning your car yourself unless you're experienced at that type of thing.
core returns? and how much $
Sorry, core returns for what? We provide the block and heads for this package. Did you want to provide your own heads?
Thanks,
Geoff
