Does the WRX use the same oil filter as the 1994-2001 RS? I went to go get my oil changed and they said they did not service 2002's.

Austin 09-30-2001, 03:56 PM Yes, exact same filter. Made by Purolator, p/n L14460. TCENGEL 09-30-2001, 04:37 PM Buy the Bosch high perf. filter. It's #1310 I think. A much nicer filter for $4.00 Bitor1 10-01-2001, 12:44 AM Bosch #3310. I have 2 spares in my garage...You can find them at autozone. RichinAZ 10-01-2001, 02:46 AM I was dealing with the same issue this morning. None of the stores have 2002 cross refrencing. You can check out Fram.com. They have a filter and it is very common. Oil change was a disaster I need to take it to the dealer. The damn drain plug was on so tight that I started to round out he bolt. even used the proper 17mm wrench. I stopped and will let the dealer take care of this first change. Don't need the headache. Wheels 10-01-2001, 03:43 AM Umm Though I used a 16mm On mine. Oh well. Anyway Purlator is the one your dealership will use and the one subaru use. Its only about 2.99 and avalible at any major auto stores. Don't use anyother. Main reason is should your engine result in oil starvation then they can`t blame the filter. Lee. Tuning Factory Inc. 10-01-2001, 10:28 AM I use Mobil 1 filters only. M-104 I think. Samirr76 10-01-2001, 12:08 PM Where can I get a Mobil 1 filter, I havent seen them anywhere  Stanley 10-01-2001, 01:13 PM I got a year's worth of filters at Subaruparts.com. get a fumotovalve (fumotovalve.com) to replace your drain plug. I can do an oil change with out jacking the car up and with no tools (other than a rag and drain bucket). travman733 10-01-2001, 01:51 PM Using the Bosch here...there was a discussion about this a while ago, but didn't write down the number for the Mobile1. I got mine from Autozone and they had the Mobile1 filter that would fit the WRX (I knew the number at the time). paulnose 10-08-2001, 12:46 PM The Mobil 1 filter is the M-104. And can be bought at Autozone for ~9.99. I just put one on my car :) Wagonwheels 10-08-2001, 05:01 PM Using Amsoil SDF36, real big almost double the size of the Subaru filter and Mobil M1-104. It's supposed to do an excellent job filtering particles as small as 10 microns. I understand the filter is manufactured by WIX for Amsoil, not sure if that is actually the case. Either way it's a nice unit. nhluhr 10-08-2001, 07:03 PM only problem with the Mobil 1 M-104 is that the threads are recessed into the body of the filter enough that when screwing it onto the car, you only get 3 or 4 threads on. Admittedly, I used one for an entire oil-change interval and it didn't come off... but I had it on so damned tight that I needed an oil filter wrench to remove it (i have never needed one before). I put on a new FRAM 3593 or something like that... I don't have the part number handy but it was in the cross reference book at Autozone as being the equivalent of the Mobil1 104. -nick paulnose 10-08-2001, 07:11 PM Yeah, the fram equivalent is the 3593A, The recessed threads kinda suck on the mobil, but oh well it went on, and I have a filter wrench if I can't get it off when the time comes :) |
