REX8 03-26-2006, 06:54 PM An OTS map will never be as safe or make as much power as a good custom map. I don't really buy that. An OTS map doesn't make a ton of power because its conservative. A custom tune, making more power, is going to be closer to "the edge" by nature. Leaning a map out and advancing timing to make HP makes a map safer? For 99% of the people, the OTS map should be very safe. 302@12psi 03-26-2006, 07:16 PM I don't really buy that. An OTS map doesn't make a ton of power because its conservative. A true dyno tune is the only way to make max power while being the safest (with the most power if that makes sense). Sure Cobb stg 2.5 on a 93 oct map is probaly extreamly safe as they tune for "general" cars. But it wont make as much power AND be as safe as a custom map. With all that mumbo jumbo above being stated I dont think pulling an extra 20 hp out of a stg 2 map makes it any "less" safe in the hands of a good tuner. |
